The Society we live in or What ?

This story happened on: 29/09/2012

Over the past 5 years myself and my wife visit a lovely private site in the Yorkshire Dales. During our last 5 visits we have done this loveley dales walk which the site owners recmmended. Each time we pass this small dales farm who sell the most lovely brown free range eggs we put our money in the honesty box and take our half dozen eggs. This year we noticed that the sign and the honesty box was not there but a sign saying if you require eggs please knock on farmhouse door.As we love these eggs we knocked and a happy fun loving farmerswife apeared asking did we want eggs to which we replied yes and told her we have got some every year for 5 years. The Lady then explained to us why they changed the method of sale from honesty box to knock on door..She told us that people took eggs and did not leave money. She told me she observed one day a middle aged well dressed coulpe in a 4x4 drive up take a  dozen eggs and drive off without putting any money in honesty box. She informed us that several people were observed carrying out this practice so her and hubby decided to change something they  have done for 15 years.......ps the eggs are £1 for a dozen...How sad is this

Good value eggs! People round our way put out surplus fruit and veg for free, it all goes. Not nice to take and not pay for eggs though.Frown
