We have just visited Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. It has been a wonderful trip over several weeks. Many pluses not least English is widely spoken, wireless internet is readily available and much to see. Some of the campsites are on the basic side but adequate. Campsites used, Pirita Harbour in Tallinn (sailing venue for the Moscow olympics), Riga City Camping and camping Harmonie near Vilnius. Camping Harmonie is run by a Dutch couple and is a high standard. On the way back we stopped off at Gdansk, Camping Stogi.
Downsides, many of the roads in Poland are awful although there seems to be a major road building programme. Some roads in Latvia are pretty grim.
On our way out we took the ferry from Kiel to Klaipeda. We wanted to use the ferry from Rostock to Tallinn but our caravan was too long!! When asked could we therefore go freight the response was 'but you are not freight'.
We are happy to share our experiences if this would be helpful--particularly where to buy smoked sausage!!
