Lovely stay at Wharfdale, but

Wharfdale is a lovely site with plenty of walks and lots to do and see. The Wardens, as always work very hard and keep the site toilets etc in excellent condition even walking around the site to pick up any litter inadvertently dropped by members. Our stay as ever was most enjoyable. However I have two hopefully constructive criticisms. The first applies to the refurbished Toilets and to most sites. The number of WC’s in the Gents is totally inadequate. I often found two people queueing in the morning to use the WC. When the site is full and the club seem to have got the ratios wrong. Less wash cubicles and urinals and at least two more WC’s on a site like this please! The second is why, Oh why, did the club cut down and not replace all the shrubs and hedges that helped to screen parts of the site from other parts. The far end of the site is now six solid rows of caravans dotted by the odd tree. This cannot have helped the wildlife! Please replace the shrubs and hedges. Otherwise a lovely site with excellent refurbished facilities which is well worth a visit.

Totally agree with you Jon.

we have been staying on this site for years, often a couple of times a year as for us it is 'home' and we have friends and family in the area. When we arrived last year we were dismayed to see the hedges had been removed. This seemed to encourage folk to walk across our pitch to get to the toilet block, and the birds and rabbits had lost their 'homes'. Thecwarden at the time thought that there may be plans to re-instate the hedge but nothing has happened. I wrote directly to the club and was told that most people liked the more open site. 0bviously he is wrong!
