Amazing site

Loved this site, wonderful location, nature and wild life abounded. This is a quiet, well run and clean site - a credit to the wardens who were so helpful when, due to a puncture on the motor way we arrived outside office hours - sorry! Located in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales it will be hard to beat.

An enjoyable 3 night stay

As this was our first ever experience of a CMC site (we have just bought a caravan) it will be the bench-mark for future holidays. If other sites are as good as this, we will be very happy members. Helpful staff, clean site and toilets, peaceful and quiet, great for couples.

First outing of the year

Arrived on back of a recovery vehicle and wardens were fantastic and helpful, used the mechanic in the information hut and again really pleased with service and, conveniently situated just off the site. Easy walk into Leyburn and used local bus service to Richmond and Bedale. Convenient Pheasant pub just up from the site, very friendly and comfortable with good ales and a roaring fire. All in all after a bit of a hiccup with the car alternator giving up the ghost on the journey there we had a great stay and will be returning.

Will definitely come back here!

My wife and I plus two dogs stayed for three nights in late April 2017, attracted by the Dales location and the very good value for money offered. The site staff were very welcoming and helpful from the outset and this continued throughout our stay. Although it is quite a compact site, pitches are situated on a variety of levels, with some in the valley close to the Wensleydale railway and others more elevated - we chose one of the latter. Due to some good luck with the weather we were able to explore some of the local footpaths including a really enjoyable walk from the site into Leyburn, with dramatic scenery available en route. Although well occupied (I would estimate about two-thirds) the well maintained and very clean site still felt quite spacious and peaceful, making it very relaxing - perfect for early retirees like us. There were a few things that might be improved on the facilities side - a grating over the Motorhome grey water point rather than a lift off cover being the most obvious, while the single toilet block seems on the small side to cope with full occupancy. Also the pitches we looked at were all slightly sloping (and some were rather more uneven) - we needed to use blocks to level things up, something that the site directory didn't lead us to expect. Notwithstanding these points, it is an excellent site in a beautiful location and we had a really good time.

Tight access?

Arrived after 12.00 on single track approach road, why were units leaving after 12.00 on this road causing problems? On pitch 61, a caravan and awning pitch, the car space to the left of caravan is tight to the road. We therefore parked to the right and the warden confirmed this was not a problem as only a small camper van was on the next pitch. Evening before we left we had taken awning down and were having a meal with friends when a new warden shouted from the lower level informing us that we couldn't park in this position. We therefore moved it to a space at a lower level. We felt embarrassed at the way we were assumed to be not complying with club rules although it had been accepted by the other warden. There are also ways of telling someone politely and not being shouted at from a distance away.

Yorkshires little gem

Don't worry about the approach to this site if you use the times allowed. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. With a stream ..ducks ..ducklings and rabbits its very chilled indeed. Its only a short walk to the little railway station..which passes the site daily ..and Leyburn itself with its lovely tea-room.pubs and shops is a mile away.the tv reception is not the best so take a booster. I will defo be returning here..
