Good access to Durham and for stopover on A1

Stayed here for 4 nights to visit Durham. Site conveniently situated off A1 therefore easy to find and excellent stop off but the down side obviously is the road noise which is to be expected. The path to Durham is lovely but no use for bikes prams or those disabled or unfit as the walk is on a field and riverside path of circa 6m round trip. It is a lovely walk though. Easy access to Beamish and the coast. It was very windy when we were there and as the site is quite open it was a bit wild to sit out. There is a nearby park and ride and the small town of Belmont which had a super cafe butchers and green grocers although as mentioned in other reviews there is a busy road to cross. Wardens were welcoming and kept a tidy site
