Ideal for visiting the Durham Area
We had three nights here in May. The weather could have been kinder, but that is beyond our control. We were greeted by Mel who let us choose a pitch from those available and gave us all the information we needed about the site and local area. The site was in good order and the toilet block clean, if a bit tired in parts. There is a bit of background noise from the A1, but this was not excessive.
The Park and Ride is just across the A1 from the site, just 10 mins walk. The grass verge to the Park and Ride had been disturbed recently, probably from roadworks, and was a bit treacherous, so take care. The buses take you to several locations around Durham and are easy to access. We went to the Cathedral and Castle, both of which are well worth visiting.
A great site for accessing the Durham area. We will be back.
