Perfect Off Grid CL

Home Farm is a favourite of ours. A large field situated right next to the Grand Union Canal. Mainly flat, no dedicated pitches, just park up where you like, with several areas of hard standing should the weather be inclement, so a great destination for all year round. Large pub right next door, walk diagonally through the pub car park to access the towpath, locks and the village of Stoke Bruerne. Highly recommend the Boat pub, old, traditional, and the Spice of Bruerne Indian restaurant and takeaway. Both opposite each other a very short walk from the site. A really lovely and interesting area with lots of walking along the towpaths, the Canal Museum, boat trips at weekends, lots to see, especially at weekends. The lovely site owner Alison is very quick to reply to emails, or of course phone.

Lovely site

We have just returned from a weekend break at The Home Farm cl site. I booked this location as my Husband and Son had tickets for the Silverstone Grand Prix. The Site is situated right next door to The Navigation Pub, which I can recommend for a reasonably priced meal, although it is a good idea to book as it was very busy when we were there. The site is well kept and lovely and quiet (apart from one instance with a pub reveller, which was quite unpleasant, but completely not the sites fault! And to be honest I think the whole Village would have heard!) we did chose to set up camp in the corner that was closest to the pub car park and backing on to the footpath behind the site, which in hindsight maybe i would have set up a bit further away from the pub carpark, but after the one incident it was actually a quiet spot. Every so often we heard people walking along the footpath and the gentle 'chugging' of canal boats! The Site is situated about 20 minutes away from Silverstone Circuit, so perfect for my Husband and Son for the Grand Prix. There is a path through the carpark of The Navigation Pub, which takes you directly out onto the canal. The Walks from the Site are lovely, the Canal is very peaceful the dogs and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the canal in both directions , and it was interesting watching the canal boats passing through the locks. We did not meet many other walkers, but did stop to chat with a couple of the canal boat occupants. We were lucky to be there whilst there was a Morris Dancing event on the Sunday on the Wharf next to The Boat Inn, it was good to see an old tradition being kept alive. We had a takeaway from The Spice of Bruerne Indian Restaurant, having read a review from another guest, it did not disappoint I highly recommend the Tandoori Salmon, it was delicious! Our first time being completely off grid in the caravan, but prior to going i did purchase a solar panel, which kept our battery topped up and charged phones etc. All in all a lovely clean well kept site in a really good location.

Lovely off grid site in great location

The site is reasonably flat, mostly grass. Useful motorhome water fill up point on hard standing not far from entrance. The car park from one of the pubs is next door, so a certain amount of noise from that. One evening was a bit noisy, but overall very quiet and peaceful. It really is only a couple of minutes walk to the canal (and we have mobility problems) which is very interesting, always something going on. Nice little museum, with cafe. Good ice cream shop associated with The Boat Inn on the wharf. We need more sites like this.

A gem of a site

Stayed here 4 nights for 2023 Grand Prix weekend and cannot recommend the site highly enough. Perfect location and setting for a peaceful stay. Very picturesque canal side adjacent with several locks and moored barges to stroll by and a choice of waterside pubs and restaurants. Very dog friendly with some wonderful footpath walks from site. Just a pity the Grand Prix got in the way, though a very convenient location for anyone visiting Silverstone. Special thanks to the owner who couldn’t have been more helpful.

Gorgeous site, great location on the canal

We stayed at The Home Farm in June 22. The site is beautiful, easily accessed, well kept, quiet & peaceful with a lovely owner. There is enough H/S for at least 3 vehicles/outfits. The location is perfect for walking down the canal and is literally a couple of minutes walk to 2 pubs and The Spice of Bruerne Indian Restaurant. The Indian is why we chose this site after a wonderful meal there a year ago when we were on a canal boat trip. The visit this time didn't disappoint. 10/10

Gorgeous canal side site

We stayed for two nights and wish we had booked for more. The site is mostly level and well maintained. As there is no EHU there is freedom to set up anywhere. There are clean and convenient waste disposal facilities and an easy five minute walk to two pubs and an interesting canal museum. We were a little perplexed as to where the locals bought their groceries as there is no shop in Stoke Bruerne, and poor shops in the nearest village of Roade so make sure you bring you own supplies. Of the two pubs, we favoured the lovely old Boat Inn which is a locals pub where we were received in a very friendly manner and where you can relax outside and survey the to-ing and fro-ing of of the often not so skilled boatmen and women. This is a site we will return to in the future.

Loverly location, near the village, very quiet, (no hook- up, no problem). We loved it, will be returning.

Lovely site

Having past this site multiple times over the years coming down for the Formula 1 it’s always looked lovely, this year we have booked it prior to the F1 and had the pleasure of dealing with Mrs Jones over the phone who was absolutely lovely. Can’t wait for our stay on the banks of the Grand Union. :)

Exactly what we want from a CL

This CL is very local for us, so we thought we would give it a try for a Saturday night, and will definitely be back. A basic, peaceful, well kept site in a good location that is only five minutes walk from everything you might want to do. We were fortunate with the October weather allowing a couple of drinks outside The Boat Inn and a very tasty take away from the Spice of Bruerne. The Navigation pub is right next door too but was closed for refurbishment when we were there. All surrounding roads are narrow, and if you have a long unit you may find access via the road directly from the A508 easier than through the village.

Awesome

Stayed here for 3 fabulous nights in September. It is a wonderful little site amongst trees, with some hardstanding, which might be useful if it had been wet. There are no marked out pitches, which we like. Access is very easy. We were super lucky as the weather was gorgeous that weekend. There is a good elsan point with its own tap. There are 2 drinking water taps in the field and the recycling/rubbish bins are very well organised and emptied daily, by the lovely Alison. We are keen walkers and access to local paths is extremely easy, we had 3 great walks, straight from the site. Alison, the host is one of the loveliest people you could wish to meet. Nearby is an Indian Restaurant, Spice of Bruerne. We can highly recommend it. It is literally 3 minutes walk away. Honestly, it is one of the best Indian Restaurants we have ever been to, good food, service, setting and outstanding value for money.
