Ease of arrival/welcome

"Perfect"

We have just returned from a week on this beautiful site and I wish we could have stayed longer. We were due to arrive on site around 6.00pm however due to heavy traffic we didn’t arrive until 8.45pm we had emailed to say we would be late and when we arrived we were met by Gwyn who showed us our pitch and where all the facilities were. Access to the site is easy straight off the A487, if you’re coming from Machynlleth look out for the huge waterwheel on the left, the turning into the site is almost immediately afterwards on the right. If coming from Aberystwyth look out for a car sales garage on your left then the site is the next turning on the left. The site is large with 2 pitches at the bottom of the field 2 to the side and 2 at the top which are on higher ground. The shower block and water are at the bottom by the entrance gate as are the recycling bins. There is a further separate field that is used for camping hence the shared facilities, during our stay there was one tent and a couple of campervans that stayed for one or two nights. The facilities consisted of one male and one female toilet along with one separate shower room this had a good quality electric shower that was plenty hot and had good pressure, there was no extra charge for the shower. All the facilities were cleaned every day and were spotless. Machynlleth is about a 15min drive away and is a lovely town with lots of independent shops and a station from where two returns to Aberystwyth cost us £15.00. there are a number of lovely beaches nearby including Borth, Ynyslas, Aberdyfi and Tywyn. If you visit Borth you must take a look at their boutique cinema “Libanus 1877” it is probably the most beautiful cinema you are ever likely to see, we managed to get tickets to see Top Gun: Maverick, once you have experienced the “armchairs” you will never want to go to a normal cinema again. There are a number of walks from the site including access to the Wales coastal path and a lovely walk to a RSPB nature reserve, on the way look out for the Ynyshir a Michelin star restaurant owned by Gareth Ward where lunch or dinner will cost you £350.00!! Alternatively you could try Cletwr which is a community run café and shop that is 2.5 miles from the site on the road to Aberystwyth where the meals are considerably less expensive and the shop is full of local produce. If you are planning a trip to mid Wales you won’t go wrong staying on this site, Gwyn and his lovely wife Glenda are the perfect hosts and they run what I consider to be a perfect CL, we will be returning.
