Best short break in a while!

This was our first visit to a CL site and we now believe it's the only option for us! We stayed over the Easter weekend with our family, inclusing the dog & had a fabulous time. We never came Into contact with the owner Christine however all required information was communicated prior and a polite notice repeating the info on site. Facilities are at a minimum like most CL's seem to be however offering of a TV point was a welcome bonus as the top few pitches struggle for own signal. It was a pleasent surprise to find an honesty daily refreshed home baked cake stall, they were yummy!! The site is a cute little spot, surprisingly peaceful and quiet given its just off one of the main road links around the peaks. We will definitely be re-visiting and most likely staying here again as everything is within reach! Most enjoyable trip away in a long time :)

Stunning site

Stunning scenery and ease of access to beautiful walks (albeit often challenging and steep!) are the main plusses of this site. Easy to get to off the A6 it is quite a compact site but has everything you require for a wonderful stay. It slopes slightly from side to side so a ramp is recommended. The hard standings are adequate and the Elsen Point well sited away from pitches and of a good, clean standard. We visited in early April and the weather, although bright, was chilly with frequent hail and snow flurries so take warm and waterproof clothing at this time of year. The site has wonderful panoramic views and it was really good to wake up to these each morning when opening the caravan blinds. It would have been useful to have some information about walks from the site and especially access to the Monsal Trail available on site but this wasn't a deal breaker. It is conveniently situated for visits to Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. We will definitely be back to the Peak District and would definitely consider returning to Blackwell Hall too.

A lovely CL with a view.

We booked this last minute for 1 night in Oct 2021 and were lucky they had space left. Its a fantastic CL and we will return if in the area! The hard standing sites are fairly level with no worries about getting bogged down and views out are lovely. The site is well laid out and notices at the entrance made it clear where the water, grey and black disposal points are and how to pay, We didn't see the owner but no need. We had read about a bridlepath from the site to the Monsal trail but it was tricky to find! We ended up cycling down a very long hill to Millers dale to access the cycle trail and then on the return journey we cycled along the Blackwell cycle shop end and found a very steep rocky bridlepath which ended up being a path back, but we had to push the bikes uphill for about 1/4 mile before it levelled out enough to cycle it back to Blackwell (just over a mile). Probably easier to drive and upload the bikes at the car park access next time though!!

Peaceful CL within Peak District

Enjoyed a week at Blackwell Hall which is a quiet CL situated in the Peak District with extensive views. All pitches are gravelled to allow for year round touring. The Monsal Trail is only a mile away via a bridleway (walk past the commercial site) for those who enjoy walking and cycling. There is plenty to see and do in the locality, so fully recommend a stay here.

One of the best!

We've spent nearly 2,000 nights caravanning, the vast majority of those nights on CL's. Our seven night stay at Blackwell Hall Farm CL ranks amongst the top five of all the CL's we've ever stayed on in 40 plus years caravanning. Why? It's a neat, tidy, well kept site with excellent views and Christine is a very helpful, interested and very interesting owner. There's a good dog walk, the site drains well, the facilities are user friendly, there's a pub / eatery in Taddington - a good walk or a short drive away. What more do you need for a cracking, relaxing holiday? We'll be back!

Wonderful week

We have had our first experience of staying at Blackwell Hall, what a gem of a site. Located well away from any roads and offering great views combined with peace and tranquility even though it is a working farm. We met the owner shortly after arriving, a very pleasant, welcoming lady and a delight to chat to. The location of the site gives easy access to many of the Peak districts most popular destinations. We look forward to many more visits.

Walking Holiday.

An accessible site just off the A6. Good hard standing pitches. Great views. Even after heavy showers, drainage was good. Owner readly accessible and very pleasant. Although it did not worry us, the site is on the incoming flight path for Manchester airport and occassional flights into East Midlands were identified but mostly freight traffic. Being summer and with long light evenings plus at weekends, there was regular and noisy motor bikes using both the local road and the A6, again we did not let it worry us. What did concern us was the issue around the numbers of caravans/motorhomes using the site at any one time. During our stay, on one night there were 7 pitches occupied and 6 on 3 other separate nights. This over loading did not affect us directly but some occupants did have their views obstructed.

A wonderful site to stay on

This is a very well placed site for people who love outstanding views. An easy site to access with lots of wonderful walks nearby. Good access from site using public transport. Many places to visit, including the walk across countryside to Chelmorton and finishing at the pub for a meal which was superb, but rather on the large side. Would definitely recommend this site if you like superb walks with outstanding scenery. Situated between Buxton and Bakewell makes for easy shopping and a good bus route close by.Would definitely recommend this site.

Fantastic views!

We really enjoyed our three nights here. We choose the pitch furthest in on the right and the neighbours (sheep) were quite inquisitive at times, coming close to the fence to see us.Some great walks from the site, with the Monsale Trail being very close by, as well as some others more off the beaten track. We saw a sign only after we pitched up, asking us to book in at the house next door before selecting a pitch. So we didn’t see the site owners at all. We had to go and search them out to pay our dues on the second day. They ask that you post the money in a named envelope through the door, but we didn’t have one, so had to knock. This is a great site to be based from and I suspect we will be back quite soon.
