According to our Thetford toilet cassette manual, we need special toilet paper for use with it. We haven't been able to get hold of this. Is it ok to use the normal paper, or will it cause problems?

You don't need to buy 'special' toilet rolls.  We just use a slightly cheaper/thinner type in the van than what we'd buy for home.

The cheaper end of normal toilet paper - that's a bit thinner and only 2ply will be fine. Soooo much cheaper too.

We used to buy the Thetford ones a few years ago, before reading it was unnecessary on CT.  The cheap Tesco ones we buy work out at 23p a roll as compared to £1 for the Thetford and work just as well.

You just buy ( and use ) the cheapest toilet paper that you can find,  young AndyJF,  assuming always that it's not stuff that requires a 6" nail to hang it on innocent

The special toilet paper is of course made by Thetfordsmile  Normal bog standard toilet paper is fine!

We use Crushell if that's how it's spelled. Soft enough for my delicateness and it dissolves fine (without chemicals).  As long as it is paper, it should be fine.

Why on earth should it matter! We use the same as we use at home - thick & quilted!

two different types of toilet ... your thick & quilted won't tend to break down the same as the cheaper stuff and you have a chance of not emptying the cassette as easily. At home you have a a sewage system ... you don't on a caravan.
