Reducing toilet smells

Hi. After lockdown ends, to stay safe, lots of us are going to have to use our loos for all of our bodily functions instead of using the toilet blocks (as we do at the moment). I will come straight out with it, is there any way of reducing poo smells while you are using the chemical toilet?

Surely the best way of dealing with solids is to fill the bottom of the loo with water (just like home) from a container do the biz open the valve, carry on and flush as normal. (hope that was delicate enough).

The alternative is to have a combustible toilet as fitted in some Caddy Caravans. The solids are literally cooked and disappear up a chimney but you can buy an awful lot of chemical for circa £4K.

@Obbernockle: Anyone who has used a toilet on a ferry or ....

Toilets I've used on ferries have use the same/similar set up to a Grey Funnel Liner ie it uses some of the sea water it's sat on/in to flush the toilet. Grey Funnel Liners used to just flush overboard .... they might very well have improved over the years 🙄

I believe operating a submarine toilet in older subs was an art in itself and the correct sequence of valve operation is essential to avoid a "blow back"

Stena Line from Harwich have impressive vacumn toilets which on flushing a gale whistles in under the toilet door, fortunately the flush button is just about impossible to reach whilst enthroned thus sparing a first time user more than he/she bargained for.
