Profile Editing Problems

Just tried to edit our profile without success. The text can be Deleted User but won't accept replacement text i.e typing doesn't work. Also, our location has appeared, despite deselecting that option. Is this related to the website update?

In my profile I have not ticked the box to show where I am from but as you can see it is showing. Given that this is personal information and I have chosen for it not to be displaid, isn't the CC guilty of contravening the data protection act? This needs to be corrected, and fast!

Struggling with your righteous indignation tbh.

Your username is AndyNYorks which probably indicates your first name and location, you post an image in your avatar that is probably your good self, that can be copied into any number of websites to match an image and probably identify you. Clicking on your username tells you are 'North Yorkshire Centre Past Chairman'. That's an awful lot of personal information in a few seconds of looking tongue-out

Are you being funny.!!! The real problem is I don't want it shown. There is a tick box to tick if you want your area shown this doesn't work.

I would totally agree. I had not ticked it previously. More automatic than anything, never show more data than you have to. I understand peedee's point it is only the county, however, you are clearly given a choice and it is unacceptable that it does not work. If they could not fix it immediately, they should have removed all locations until they could.

No I was being serious. Information of a rough location and outfit can be useful in phrasing a reply.

I agree with Peedee that a rough indication of where someone lives is handy in certain circumstances. An example would be when giving advice on ferries or night halts. If someone can be seen as living in Cornwall you will think twice, or at least construct the answer more carefully before suggesting they drive all the way to Dover in order to cross to France. In some circumstances it saves a lot of misunderstandings. Likewise it is also handy to know if someone has a caravan or a motorhome as the same misunderstandings can happen. If you wanted no location information and you were ever in the position of asking for advice you would have to divulge far more information which would seem counter productive?

At this moment in time the OP’s personal choices regarding his personal info are not being adhered to.  Others on CT have also commented on the same thing & that their locations are wrong/no longer exist etc.

As there has been no answer to the OP's question quote 'Is this related to the website update? someone in HO will see this problem & things will be corrected.

While I have no problem with showing my location, it is and should be a choice for the individual.

This morning I was in East Yorkshire, now I am in Shetland, much cheaper to holiday this way, that's why its snowing cool
