iPads and loading photos to CT

Whilst I have an iPad mini I tend only to use it whilst out and about to catchup with forums etc so I am not very well versed in its capabilities. When I upload photos I use my Windows laptop/desktop which is fairly straightforward. However we have quite a few people who use iPads to add stories but they seem to have difficulties with uploading images direct from the device which CT does allow for up to five photos. I have started this thread as I want to get an understanding of how it can be done direct from the device and not via a URL if indeed it can!!!

Hi David, I have commented before in your site reviews and of course pictures add immensely to the appeal. I have never uploaded a picture but having just seen yours in the Burgubndy Recommendations thread was wondering what was involved and then you started this!

So my question would be where do I start?

I have a Canon SLR but In reality most pictures are taken on the iPhone and whilst I can then upload to the iPad doing it 'direct' would make it more likely that I would post pictures, especially whilst travelling, as I am on the 3 network so have reasonable internet in most places Including Europe.

I tried to create a story on the iPad this afternoon. I could add a title and the story text and when it happened but when I came to add pictures that section would not open up. Is this everyone elses experience? This was in Safari btw. If this part of the story section does not work is that the fault of the iPad or does the forum software not accept the Apple system? Has anyone downloaded Chrome to their iPad and tried that adding pictures that way?

Not sure how helpful this will be David, but CT is the only website I have come across where I cannot load photos directly onto site, hence I gave up on here. Use Safari by the way. Doesn't happen with iPhone either, but I couldn't load from my Blackberry phone either.

I cannot change my avatar on iPad or iPhone either, but can if I use my Mac Book.

I felt disappointed not to be able to add my photos at the end of my recent story. In future I will have to use the desktop to upload photos. i feel that it's probably a CT issue as I dont encounter problems uploading photos to Facebook or email whilst using my iPad. I rarely use the desktop these days unless needing to print something off.

Hi David, I have tried to find the info on CT re posting but can't locate it?? Also tried t post form my iPhone and whilst the image appeared in the reply box it was a very enlarged image of a small section of what I had copied.

David what about your method using posting into email method.  I manage putting photo's on that way but not with my iPad I think.  I don't attempt photo;s on here as it is such a fiddle.  Hopefully when the new forum is introduced it will be OK.

Dianne

I must admit I have not tried via an iPad. Is Windows Live Mail available for Apple products? I only have the iPad mini (on loan) but from what I have seen I don't think I would would buy the bigger version. I find a Windows laptop much more productive for what I need to do on a computer. If I feel the need for a tablet my HP laptop which I use in the van converts in seconds. Might not be as light as an iPad but I have the best of both worlds.

It does seem that beyond adding text to CT  iPads and iPhones are not compatible with the current forum software. I have it on good authority that the new forum software will work cross platform so when we get the new forum hopefully the problems of posting photos from an iPad (and hopefully other platforms)  will be a thing of the past?

The answer is simple.  The CC website uses Adobe Flash.  Apple does not allow this on iPads or iPhones. Hence no joy.

I have discussed this problem with Rochelle who will raise it with whomsoever.  I have also raised it with the web team who say you can download Flash substitutes but they cost.
