I recently changed my old 05 plate Kia Sorento for a newer model 14 plate as I was happy with the towing capabilities of my old Kia ,however the newer model seems more sensitive ,twitchy .I have had the caravan serviced and the alko pads renewed and doesn't seem to of made any difference .I was wondering if any other members have had the same experience in the change of the Kia's towing caraturistics

I had two Sorento's as tow cars. The first the same model as your original and it was rock solid. The second was a 59 plate "improved model with the bigger engine. Loved the extra power but I always found it more twitchy as a tow car than the original. I put this down to the newer one not having self levelling suspension. Does your 14 plate have SLS? If not it could be the issue. If it has no SLS I don't know if it can be fitted retrospectively then perhaps one option (and cheaper!) might be to consider MAD supplementary springs.

I have read on various forums that the sorrento without self levelling can be poor at towing.

we had a 15 plate with self levelling and I must say it was the best tow car we have had
