Don't know why others are absent from the discussion pages but I just cannot be bothered with the increased difficulty in following threads anymore. I might resume normal service when/if the functionality of these pages improves.

Posted on 29/12/2016 12:54 by KennineNow that the CC new forum has been up and running for a good number of days, In My Opinion it is not really much worse than the old one. It's just a case of finding the workarounds to the various glitches ( I've found quite a few good workarounds already ).
One thing is for sure. There is no point of anybody voicing their disappointment in the new forum software on this forum as nothing will change. The decision has been made. End of.
The CC Management have decided upon and implemented a forum which they believe is entirely suitable for their customers.
So posters can either do as I have done, use the forum as supplied by the CC management and find workarounds. My preferred choice !
-----------OR ---------------
If still unhappy, forget this one and use other caravanning forums to discuss their hobby, there are plenty of them on the net..
Cheers...............................K

I totally agree. I don't mind change, but when its worse than what it was, well, something should be done, but it won't. The reason nothing will change for a year or two is because it cost thousands of pounds to change this in the first place, so they can't change it and admit it was a totally waste of money

Posted on 29/12/2016 13:09 by OneputtIf you remove all the comments about how poor the new forum is I think there is less posting. Personally it's nothing to do with stars I've just lost interest and probably post a quarter of what I did prior to the changes.
I'm pretty sure I won't be posting anymore stories or photo.s.

There have been several Stories posted since the change of forum which show good size photos. I would agree that it is disappointing that the option to add more photos into a story has been removed, although some have found work rounds. You can always post more photos in subsequent posts. In which way do you feel the Story section is worse than before? One major change for the better is that non stories can be moved into the discussion area, that has been a excellent change.

Much of the site has improved since the launch day. It's worth checking through some areas again as they have become more functional. I never follow threads as I don't want extra notifications via e mail, I find it easy to navigate to threads I'm interested in without any problems. The only thing I miss is a vertical discussion structure on my phone which was much easier to navigate, I have this on my laptop and I wonder why it doesn't work the same on my phone?

, a few taps & I'm there, even scrolling isn't too overtaxing to be honest. Im thinking it's not only our Youth that demand 'here/now/fast' I'm happy to live my life in the bus lane not the fast lane

I think the reasons for fewer posts are:
The fact that the 'latest post' column on the main index doesn't update correctly. It always shows the name of the original poster (although the time and date does update). At first glance it appears that nothing new has been posted, so not worth looking at.
Secondly, the number of presses required to switch screens (on an iPad at least) is ridiciculous......sometimes it takes 6 attempts or more. Very frustrating and off-putting. And yet, if you linger for more than a nano-second on the 'reply' button, you get duplicated posts.
Thirdly, there are no discernible improvements to the web site (but as noted above, some backward steps) so a lot of people feel cheated and let down. Especially when the CC closed the web site down for several days to produce this change, then gave little or no meaningful response to feedback from members to their comments on the new web site and then cleared off on an extended holiday and left us all to get on with it.

What you say David is your perception mine may be entirely different so equally valid
The photo posting process is worse now than before particularly IMO the quality.
I didn't say the story section was better or worse I said I won't be posting any more I said quote "I've lost interest"!
If you want a forum that works you only have to look at caravanchat.org

I don't have any significant problems navigating the new site on my iPad. The double post factor does crop up occasionally, but is more a function of the slow speed of the site, meaning you press the button again, rather than how long you hold your finger on. If you wait a few seconds to check if it has posted, double posts can normally be prevented. Having to press the buttons several times to get into things does need addessing but is not a major problem. I would certainly count the ability to add photos from an iPad, a discernible improvement.
I think the primary reason for fewer posts, if indeed there are, is the difficulty of using it on a phone. The sideways scrolling certainly puts me off. Also from my experience of an old phone and what has been written on CT, it does not seem to function on older Android devices.
