Race Across the World

All good tv David, but bear in mind that the contestants will not be travelling alone.

There will be a cameraman, an assistant in charge of the drone, a sound recordist, a producer, a language translator and a fixer who has done the route in advance to set up meals and accommodation for the crew.

It all reminds me of the series where RickStein was bravely driving a sports car across Burgundy - where no man had gone before, and all alone. But the next shot  was “Here we are for crew lunch” - and there were nine of them at a restaurant table.

And the producer said can we do that previous bit again, Rick. All good tv.

Quite so ET. Margaret always asks where their bags are in some of the places they stop and then wander off to explore! How genuine an actual race it might be I think is open to question, or is that me just being cynical? Having said that I do find it good as a travel log. It also comes a cross as a lot safer than it is probably in reality? This series was of particular interest as my daughter in law is from São Paulo in Brazil so it had an extra element of interest.

I do wonder about who goes with them. The difficult bit was when there were only two seats left on the bus, what happened to the crew? I can only assume they have a car and follow the bus. Still it is an interesting programme and the contestants do suffer. 

At least they avoided the Canadian errors where contestants had to reach an island and there was only one bus and a town where the only way was a specific train, so they all ended up at the same places at the same time.
