I agree Bakers, slow and steady is the key. Get the number of infections down as much as we can as that’s when Test and Trace becomes really effective.

We are doing a lot more tests now, partly because of the number of ‘surge’ tests being done etc and if you look at the number of tests we have done in comparison to the rest of Europe there’s a massive difference.

I was looking at the latest stats on Gov.uk and the hospital admissions are falling slowly, down from 1750 to 1492 in a week, and the numbers in hospital dropped from 23384 to 18462 in a week.

All good signs for the future and it can only get better as more people are vaccinated.

Our compromise won’t be as big as yours might have to be AD, but we have had to compromise on our holidays even over here for the last eight years really, mainly because of my parental caring commitments, and OH being very dodgy health wise for a couple of years. So our holidays have been nothing but compromise really.
The choice has been about owning dogs, and choosing not to go overseas with dogs, so we do choose to holiday in UK. Under normal circumstances, we would be coming up to around our third shortish break, looking forward to a “doing” holiday for around three weeks after Easter. After that it would be fitting in the odd week, dodging school and BH’s until second week in June, then we would tour down to SW, have a month on our favourite CL, just chilling, swimming, walking, cycling, head back home just prior to schools breaking up. Stay around home in garden over Summer school break, then away again, usually back down SW in September. It wasn’t unknown for us to spend three months out of a year in SW, we have even done weekends to Fowey back when we kept caravan down there. We went from this, to only having a maximum of four nights away from home. World turned upside down, just as my OH retired. So we are masters of compromise. We had to be just to stay sane.
If I have to suffer in crowds to get to SW I will, even going on a Club Site rather than a CL (at the moment), it’s an event we want to see down there in September. And a few beaches I haven’t been able to swim off in far too m any years.

Sounds very similar to us takethedogalong. OH retired medically retired very early.  Add into the mix daughter moving to New Zealandand more recently OH performing again 😱.

We did manage quite a bit of exploring of our wonderful UK, not managed Ireland at all 😢. Plus a good trip to France in our motorhome, but in order to be able to afford prolonged trips to NZ we had to curtail our UK trips a bit and save my leave. I gave up work at 60, should have been given my savings of state pension but that didnt happen or again on my last birthday, they'd better not move the goalposts again 😤.

Life is all about compromise and enjoying what you're offered. I'd settle for a stand and stare at son and daughter in law right now, and just to be able to see our new grandchild soon after arrival. It seems ironic that we saw kiwi ones at about a week old and might not our local one! After that, I'd love a holiday anywhere. We're about to enter our 3rd year, no complaints, of lockdown- first was more of a voluntary stay at home and recover ourselves. Lesson to me enjoy what you can when you can 😇. Rant over, I feel better for it though!

I’ll have the one on the left please.

Apologies for the off-topic comment but I just booked three mini trips away after Easter and think I’m a bit ‘de-mob’ happy. Or should I say ‘delusional ’cool

I've just booked a Dorset rally in July, no payments until it gets the go ahead. Just nice to plan a few things. smile
