just on Clumber Park site for the weekend, can’t believe the lack of respect for people’s privacy. The worst site we have been on for people short cutting straight across pitches because they are too bone idle to walk the proper way round, passing right by the windows without a thought for respect or privacy. One guy even doing it 3 times on the trot, yes you fetching your gas bottle!!

I am surprised to regularly read complaints on here about other members behavior. I dont like the sites and use them only rarely but I have always  found the behavior  other customers perfectly ok, I think if CAMC sites are too "rough and ready" for  you you are probably in the wrong hobbyundecided

+1๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป. Whilst staying at New England Bay I had a corner plot towards the beach, folk cut across the pitch every day. I got quite chatty with a few of them๐Ÿ˜Š. Then again I see the pitch as a temporary parking spot, not short term ownership, I ain’t that precious๐Ÿ™„

LT, I donโ€™t think TDA was being serious. Note the smiley at the end.

Funny you should say that, Rocky, but I’ve noticed folk are far more laid back about things like that on C&CC sites. Far less precious. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Why not put wind breaks up to physically BLOCK the route, that's what I have done in the past and if anyone says anything to you just say that you have paid for the use of the pitch and you have not gone over your boundary.

a campsite is hardly the place to expect privacy, but courtesy is a different matter...

walking right through someone's pitch is particular rude, IMV...and lazy in many cases..

some folk do try and give themselves a bit more privacy by erecting windbreaks, some on long term sites have a veritable barricade around them, but whatever they decide on, we should respect their 'area' and only enter if invited..

the pitch might be rented and temporary but, in my book, that's good enough for its space to be respected by passers by....and those short cutting to other parts of the site.

It’s not so much about boundary or paying for the pitch when you erect wind breaks, Margaret, but ensuring you maintain the necessary distance for safety requirements. That is why wardens sometimes ask people to take windbreaks down.

I agree it can sometimes be annoying when folk walk too close but I don’t think we need to be so parochial as to cordon ourselves off. Why not try engaging the people in conversation then you can politely ask them not to trip over your dog/BBQ/chairs in future?

We found the same at Clumber when the weekend arrived, the site was full and people just walked on our pitch and past our windows into the woods, we also had some on bikes. we would have wasted our time having to ask people to desist, there were too many. I think the gaps in the perimeter fence were too tempting. Don't know if this has been fixed? Lovely surroundings but not a site we'd rush back too.

Our Dog tethered so she can reach all parts of our pitch but not beyond, usually stops intrusion. She is not vicious, quite the opposite very very friendly and liable to trip and tie up the transgressor then lick them unmercifully. Especially children. Tends to keep most at bay

Would they walk through your hotel room?

Posted on 06/04/2019 11:39

Yes, if it had a public footpath through it.

Been to Marazion, nice site , most folk are aware of the footpath. And pitch accordingly.Whirly gig  clothes dryer (with clothes)  in strategic position as  well as tethered dog.......what People ?
