Pitch Allocation

As well as the caravan club I am a member of the Camping and caravan Club. I am puzzled why, when booking online with CC I am asked to give the length of my caravan, yet when I arrive on site pitch allocation is actually a free for all, first come first served. Some sites have a wide variation in pitch sizes, Englethwaite being one and I have found on occasions that I have had to squeeze my 8 metre twin axle onto a tiny pitch whilce a midget sized van sits in the middle of a vast pitch. The CCC wardens take the time to manage pitch allocations, the CC wardens do no such thing and leave us to it. So what is the point in asking me how long my van is if the wardens can't be botheredto do basic allocation management? I'm not asking them to individually allocate every pitch, but common sense dictates that on sites with some significantly small pitches the wardens should ensure that when large vans have been booked in, tiny vans don;t use the pitches that are needed to accomodate them. It's basic resource management, not rocket science.
