No News Yet on the New Booking System

I noticed in the latest magazine there is an article on potential changes to the site booking system. I am sure we had a similar article a couple of months ago? Although there seems a commitment to being able to book a pitch type they are less than clear on other changes such as deposits. Apparently they are still considering it and looking closely at member feedback, including Club Together!!! I suppose we should be encouraged that they are taking note of what is said on this forum? I could be wrong but there seems a sort on consensus on CT that probably its coming to the point where deposits might be the way forward, some more reluctant than others maybe? Obviously many would want to see the small print perhaps before accepting it as a way forward. A decision may well have been made but it seems that it could be a few more months before full details are made public.

Indeed, except you have claimed only in the last few days that you can't understand why there are so many differences in prices and procedures between the UK and over there?

But lets' keep on topic dave?

I can only reply to what you have posted in the past, and you have often said you don't use club sites. If this has changed this year I wouldn't know, up to now of course.

I don't know where you get these ideas from Corners, I have never said I don't use Club sites. What I do reflect in my posts is that I do not rigidly stick to Club sites and while this year has seen me spend more nights than usual on Club sites, in my 34 years of membership I do not recall a year in which I have never used a Club site.

I would assume that currently if someone didn’t show and they weren’t in late night arrivals, or had made contact by the next day, the pitch would be relet. I don’t see why it should be any different with a deposit. Wether the deposit was forfeit or not would depend on the T&C’s.

Hope you haven't been naughty and overstayed your 90 day welcome. wink

On the subject of deposits, which has been aired here many times in the past, if CAMC wanted to avoid them yet still impose a measure on control it could be done by the simple expedient of taking credit card details with a penalty fee of X imposed for late cancellations/no shows. I have always thought the 72 hour break point too short and should be amended to a week. I would submit that the above proposal would be equitable and satisfy those who are reluctant to pay deposits.

First night stay is only held up to 8pm, on the day of arrival. Beyond that, Club has every right to relet the pitch, including the days beyond, unless Member has contacted them to discuss otherwise. Deposit or no deposit.

In Summer, if the Club could extend that 8pm a bit later, (bearing in mind it doesn’t get dark until 10pm) they might pick up a few very late bookings. Bit difficult at moment given that a human has to book you in, but not out of the way with a bit more technology.
