The Club have released more details of the new Booking System here

There are still finer details still to be arrived but the link (thanks Harry) sets out how the new system will work.

I have closed the previous thread on when we will get details of the new booking system and opened this one to allow comments specifically on the new system rather than discussing what they might be.

"For us though they would allow family members without an RV to meet up on site"

yes a big plus from us, we regularly use a site in Devon staying 1 month, not club, that has approx 40 static caravans and a handful of glamping pods, already for this year we have  people coming to visit who will stay in the static caravans, it means you can all relax take in the air, and the area, use the swimming pool etc and at the end of the day not worry as to who is going to drive home, or cook, the local Indian does a fantastic take-away.     laughing

We meet friends who do not have LVs  each year ( covid exception)and they all stay in static and bungalows on the same complex as us

When all these future changes come in with pods, glamping  statics etc perhaps a  membership organisation will start up called the Caravan Club that just provides nice touring sites without the bells and whistles at a reasonable cost to its membership, it'll be to late for me I'm afraid

None of my family or friends have LV’s - but no way would any of them dream of sleeping in a pod on a campsite in order to meet us.

According to some posters the demographics of this club are mostly of the older, our generation, and as it seems many younger generations do not have and will not have the finances that many of our generation have enjoyed?,

And it seems also  with posts and the media ,everything has to be laid on these days, as younger generations, are now it seems unable to make their own or their children's  entertainment,

Then LV ownership as we have known it now has a limited future,

The rise in alternative means of "camping?"ie pods is possibly a way forward

This is very possibly the last year we will be out in our LV if we can cope even this year,,

That what we have thought., Until we have looked at them ,they have come on in leaps and bounds in the last few years, surprised

I do hope all this shenanigans doesn’t drive more onto the CL network. We have enough coping with all those who want to be Overseas at the moment! 😉😁

(Just in case anyone has a sense of humour failure, that is a joke)

Stop Press: France to open up to 'tourists' from tomorrow....no 'compelling reason' to be there now required....

just for info, please do not debate in this thread😇

I guess it doesn’t give that back to nature & basic living feeling a lay-by or farmers gateway kinda vibe some desire gives🤷🏻‍♂️, put me down for a wedge of glamping mind👍🏻

Glamping is fine, we took a lovely 4 bed lodge with hot tub on a (non Club) site as a treat. Family enjoyed it as did we...

but the next week we went back to proper touring....

...but as AD mentions upthread....the place you visit has amenities, pool etc.

we use a site in Oxfordshire in summer and winter....has pool, bar, restaurant etc which just adds to the fact that it's in walking distance of a lovely town.

the lodge we used last summer also had major facilities on site...

can't see the point of a pod in a field without even its own bathroom and no other facs on site...compare this to the resort sites in France and Spain...

I have toured in ten countries without a caravan or motorhome - it’s fine - even sometimes using buses and trains without  a car. That was always staying in B&Bs, small hotels, hostels, motels and so on. I never thought that caravans and motorhomes were the only way of touring, but “pods” never appealed to me in the least. I don’t see any attraction at all.

+1, me too. I drew the line at camping mind👍🏻. The B&B, plus small Gitte I thought fantastic.

Personally I think  if they cant survive without becoming just another static park provider why should we care?

As an aside  if they do see themselves as a player in this field they will need to offer more than statics or pods in the middle of nowhere without the facility of pools restaurants etc

Each to there own, but personally I see that as a USP and I’m sure I’m not alone.
