It would be great to have feedback on the caravan sites and how the safety measures are working. We will be watching for the next two weeks to see how safe the sites are before we decide to start touring again.  Maybe a lot of people will put reviews on individual caravan sites.

Moderator Edit:

This thread is specifically and solely for members currently visiting sites to offer useful feedback.

Please keep your posts on the topic of "caravan sites opening and safety measures on sites" only.

Thank you.

For anyone interested here’s our experience of arrival at Burrs Country Park site this afternoon.

Sign up at the barrier asking you to phone to check in and pay by credit card but then we were told to go into the office.

Hand sanitiser on the wall outside office and full height screen at the desk.

I was using vouchers and was asked to hold them up one at a time near the screen so value could be checked then tear in two and drop into a waste paper bin.  Was paying the balance (£2.80) in cash and was asked to drop coins into a dish of fluid/disinfectant.  Went back to notify pitch number and was handed the key (around the side of the screen because there’s no gap at the bottom) and told it had been disinfected.

Toilets limited to 2 people at a time and there’s a little clear plastic bucket on the wall outside filled with Milton fluid which has 2 rubber bands in (like those used at swimming pools).  Wardens said most people were using their own facilities.

They had around 100 arrivals yesterday, was busy but went well but when they checked the toilet block this morning there were more than 2 people in and obviously some had ignored the band system.

Although the web page says the shop is closed it isn’t and they have a limited supply of ‘essentials’.  Book exchange and a information rooms closed.

The Brown Cow at the side of the site is open and they have rearranged the picnic tables in the large beer garden and have a very big awning too.  Tables in the pub are for pre-booked meals only and no customers allowed for ‘drinks only’ until after food service is over.  Pub closes at 9pm..
Not sure what other sanitisers they have as we only arrived 2 hours ago.  Will check when we take the dog out this afternoon.

The Marketing Persons in the chemical depts of the likes of Unilever ,have done a great job of "convincing" the younger generations of us  that unless a shower is taken every day they may not be socially accepted ,to the detriment of washing all the body fats and antibodies ,that in the past kept us fitter it seems than todayundecided

which is great for their bank balancesurprised

With the post from Ann staying at Burrs ,it has made us have a serious rethink on whether we being in the vunerable group ,now maybe not bother with this year risking using our C/van soon       As several of our friends will not now be  having a  meet up with us after that other deleated post we may just not do our tour which included Burrs ,will see we have untill 72hrs before to cancel sitesfrown

@ AnneB

I'm glad I was at work  .... I  bet Woodhill Road was a delight  if 100 caravans checked in yesterday 😂 Apparently there was a self appointed marshall keeping order .... 🙄

First van on site was 9:00am so I’m guessing most would have been on site by early afternoon, and at least there was no chance of meeting anyone leaving late wink

Was busy when we got here today at 12:30 with cars parked along the road as usual.

OH! thought you might have been one of the self appointed marshalls guiding people in, after putting up your "Motor Home Using this pitch" and spread out the EHU

But on a more serious note, i suspect sites are going to have a greater occupancy towards the end of July/August, in our area some of the schools are quite full but they will start hols end of July. I also think that as time goes by people will become more complacent, and that will lead to more people not doing what we expect them to do, especially after a few beers round the BBQ frown as could be seen last night in some parts of the country, and IMO people need to be more aware not less aware on caravan sites.. Commercial site quite close , no facilities, except EHU, metered at extra cost, was quite empty when i passed yesterday.

I’m ‘vulnerable’ too being over 70 with a heart condition so will be using our facilities where possible and having what my mother called a ‘good wash’. I don’t feel it’s anymore risk than being at home, maybe even less so, but I understand not everyone will feel the same.
