WTG, Well all this talk of 'ditherers' is quite interesting. I used to be indecisive but now I am sure, OK, quite sure, that I am not one!

As for planning, have to say that we have never done the 'turn right off ferry' approach as it seems, to us, that to get the best out of your time there needs to be some planning.

This for us has usually meant the main destination is known and we get there ASAP with any meandering done on the way back.

I say usually as this year, we cross in June, we will be taking a new approach and limiting the time spent driving each day so this has meant more planning and identifying sites suitable for a stop over. I even have an idea of suitable fuel stops, identified with Google maps and Streetview, having had issues with poor access & egress in the past!

On the old V new decision,we are doing a bit of both this year. Germany was in the frame as it fitted with visiting friends in Holland, on the outward leg, but thats out now due to their plans and the Bavarian School holidays impact on sites around Garda so, plan 27B is now in place and we are doing a circular, out via Roscoff back via Harwich, tour, visiting Annecy, Lago Trasimeno, both new, and then our fave site on Garda before heading back via Holland to visit our friends.

Our trip will be a few days less than you and we are, as many here, looking forward to it immensely-we did have great holidays here the last two years but driving onto the Pont Aven in June will remind us never to take things for granted and to make the most of life when, and while, we can.

Have a great trip!

Much the same a you WTG but we have decided to tour in UK for another year but I will be chompping at the bit at the end of the year to get over there in 2023. Lijke you  insurance is a limiting factor unless I can buy extra time (exopensive?) I may well settle for two trips of a about a month each, one back to old haunts and another to pastures new. I hope nothing puts a stop to these ideas.

I'm a planner, usually with stopovers marked out. Finally heading for a much postponed trip to Annecy in a couple of weeks although, given the lack of differential in fuel price, a more direct route rather than via Luxembourg. Coming back is a bit fuzzier and will "see how it goes".

Planning is always fun even if you change it all.

WTG the Lot valley biased as I live there and not far from Averyon gorges also the Cantal is good as we did that last year but gites only but a lot of places to see and do, much wamer at home around 23/24C although storms are forecast. A bit cooler and damper here now in Cornwall but enjoying our break. Good luck which direction you go.
