Not very active forum...

I've rejoined the Club after quite a few years. The forums are not as active as they might be. Yes you can pay £15 to join more active groups but wouldn't it be good if this forum, which we have paid for after all, could become a little more active and responsive by members using it more. (Or maybe I have found it too hard to find what I'm looking for!?)

I don't come onto the forum often now as the website is so slow! Cannot believe that a business like the CAMC can't get its act together with this website.

Well this site used to be more active, with varying protagonists, however the moderators seem to be a bit heavy handed so now it is relatively mundane.

It is boringly stupefying, without soul, so although I still trawl through, it certainly is not as good as it was say 2 yrs. ago.

Don't give up hope, stick with it, and you may still find the occasional gem within these walls.

I joined the club as I am a single traveller so find the rates very good and know that the sites will always be of a good, very reasonable and often excellent standard (which often commercial sites are not). The Club provides a discussion forum but I doubt if the membership fee would be different, whether there is a discussion forum or not. I didn't join the Club to spend most of my time reading or posting comments on the discussion group. It is something that I do sometimes read and do sometimes ask for advice or post comments on and the information is often, quite useful, but I would still be a member, whether the discussion group existed or not.

"I joined the club as I am a single traveller so find the rates very good and know that the sites will always be of a good, very reasonable and often excellent standard (which often commercial sites are not)."

I generally use Commercials which generally are of a higher standard of the club sites, bigger pitches, fully serviced, excellent facilities and quite often at a lower rate than comparable to club sites. I occasionally also use club sites, no issues with them, but your assertion that club sites are better than commercials is just not true. Commercial sites live or die by their rating, they can not afford to be poor. The affiliated sites are commercials and groups like Morris have sites with standards that the club can only dream of having.

We are all different. I have used several Morris sites but far prefer CMC sites. I disagree with your last statement but we all have our own opinions

We all have different perceptions of what is a good site. I certainly believe that club sites are far better than commercials for a great number of reasons. You believe otherwise and that is fine but to say it is not true is just your view , it is not the truth

But again many have posted that while it is difficult to get a club pitch at the moment yet it is also been posted that many commercials have plenty of space, one has to ask why this is? If these commercials are better as in your last sentence why don't they have the same occupancy rates as the club?

I have only used one , Stanmore Hall and like Phishing I came away thinking it of a standard the club should try to emulate. However it was to my mind expensive at £27 8 years ago

We have only stayed at two ML. Stanmore Hall and Riverside at Betws-y-Coed. The grounds of the site at Stanmore were certainly exceptional, much better than anything I have seen on a club site. However facility / pitch quality wise it was very similar. Riverside I thought not as good as the average club site. Not an attractive approach through a static area and a very low ratio of facilities to occupants. Our service pitch necessitated buying another length of food grade hose (unsurprisingly on sale in the shop) as the water tap was over 10 metres from our van. Price wise Riverside was very similar to The club for the time of year.
