Bank holiday Friday night, £40 + per night and club house closed, presumably because no staff and no warning just the shutters down. Come on club you can do better than this. Charge top dollar so provide the facilities. Just not good enough.

If staff are unavailable for work through illness or the dreaded ping I am not quite sure what you expect the Club to do? I am pretty sure the Club House/Restaurants on sites are run separately from what the wardens are responsible for. I imagine also that the demand for staff in that part of the country is outstripping the availability of people to help at short notice?

Itake you have discussed the problem with on site staff  before having rant on here that only other members will probably seeundecided

It may well, be the pingdemic that has caused the problem as posted?

If so what do you expect to be done?

As above, with the current labour shortages / pingdemic they probably had no choice. A note  of explanation on the door wouldn’t have been to much to ask though.

...obviously refund everyone on site a fiver (or so) a day for loss of service....wink

one of the USPs of Hillhead is the pool/clubhouse complex, it's the reason for many folk choosing the site over others, I'll wager.

the club charges a horrendous peak price (a shade under £50 for a non SP pitch and around £52 for a SP) for the privilege of being there and for having something other club sites don't have.

to close part of the attraction (whilst possibly inevitable) requires some sort of customer redress.

not good enough CC.

How does. any body as it was last night? apart from one rant know the real situation?

My take on it is that the site would justify its price by the additional facilities. If those facilities are unavailable then a price adjustment should be given at the very least.

Using the site I would have no use for the closed facility but having paid a price based on its presence would still expect some recompense

Totally agree. Might only have been the one night. Could be all up and running today. We just don’t know. In the current climate I would not expect any compensation for one night. However, if it continued I feel it would be appropriate.

It is annoying when so much paid for facilities but hopefully just the one night, a notice on the door would have been useful. This sort of thing is happening all over Devon I’m afraid. A pub local to us has closed for a fortnight. They need the business after the last 18 months but, they just can’t get staff and those they have sometimes have to isolate. Apart from the food bookings, which they can control, they are inundated with customers in the beer garden for drinks. Customers become abusive or give them bad feedback due to waiting times, due to lack of staff. So, all in all they decided, that although they need the business they will close until the main holiday period is over. It’s a strange time and I think we all just have to be patient and understanding.

I went to get our paper this morning and the shop was closed because of a pandemic ping so had to go another few miles to the next place for the paper, it happens in these times at very short notice

There was a notice on the Hillhead website details yesterday. It's very unfortunate but a lot of venues are struggling to stay open with rising Covid rates and staff absences. I think everyone needs to be prepared that this could happen, both on and off sites.
