Towing with Ford Transit Custom D/Cab

Hi we tow With a transit custom 125 limited, we tow a twin axle van with it. You need to contact the manufacture and ask about warrany because they will say should not be towed with a commercial vehicle. Lunar tolld me it would be ok if  I used a dixon bate shock link  

as for turning up on site I have never had a problem, it is now a camper but was just a panel van when I first got it

The club has no problem with commercial vehicles being used as tugs, Northman. It's possible, but unlikely, that you may be asked to park in the car park if pitch sizes are small.

Affiliated sites might well have different rules so it would pay to check with the site operator.

Thanks for the reply's. Did not know about the dixon bate shock link requirement. Are they the only supplier of this type of product, looks costly.

Kevin, do you tow long distances, we travel to France from Scotland every year, I'm concerned about comfort. Also concerned about traction on wet grass CL's etc. Currently tow with a 4x4 Volvo but need a dual purpose vehicle for work and play time. Also, have an ebike, its two heavy to lift onto the roof of a car so a transit seems like a good option.

I have towed up to 200 miles with it, comfortable seating but the double passenger seat is not. As we have converted it we now have a single passenger seat which is great.

the ride without van can be hard so really play with tyre pressures as we have now found that rears on 45  instead of 60 gives a much better ride. This pressure is the minimum ford recommend empty

As we pretty much live in the van now we do very little towing so have decided to leave the Dixon bate off the van and will be selling it on after Xmas.

Never been stuck with it but I guess like any other front wheel drive it won’t be as good as you 4x4

it is nice to drive and returns about 42 mpg on a run sat at 65 mph

Found this, any one had any experience with it, a lot cheaper and seems to do the same job.

Kev155, Can I ask if you sold your Dixon Bate Shock link, and if not which version is it, the 80kgs or the 100 kgs?
