Hi all

I am a retired HGV1 driver and have towed caravans for many years, at the moment I have a Ford kuga that I have on lease and goes back in Feb. I am looking to purchase a 2014 Mondeo Titanium x 2.2 tdci sport estate, and would like to know if any other members have or had a similar car and what they think of them etc for towing.  I used to have before I got the Kuga, a Mondeo 2.0 130 tdci ghia x estate and was a cracking car, in fact my son in law bought it from me and still has it.

Any advice on the sport would be helpful.

Regards

Malc

the Mondeo is a great car and the 2.2 twin turbo is even better. Is it a manual or auto as fords have a problem on some models with the DMF's. My son had the same car but the hatchback and used to and from work which was only 5 miles round trip and had nothing but problems with the DPF and going into limp mode.

I had a petrol 2T titanium x sport.  Decided to put a tow hook on but advised by the fitting company not to proceed as they would have to modify part of the rear diffuser, resulting in the car could becoming unsettled at high speed(solo).  However the rear bumper on the 2l tdi may be completely different.

Thanks for the reply's, it is manual gearbox 2.2 200 bhp tdci. last of the Titanium x sport.

I have contacted witter and they have no problem with the model as regards towbar fitting.

You can fit everything in the back of a Mondeo estate, even the caravan, haha,

I'll second that. The load space and weight allowance is enormous. An excellent tow vehicle.

I use a 2006 Mondeo Diesel and its realy good. I have fitted MAD air Bags in the rear suspension and this has made a good tow car even better.

My Caravan is a twin axel Senator. I am inside the Train weight but pushing the Clubss advice on weights. However I have not had any problems and the car is realy good.

The only problem is with the older diesel engines staying within the ever more stringent emission levels. The more recent cars are much better on the emissions I am told
