Mazda bongo as a tow car?

Hi I am considering buying a Mazda bongo which has engine 2490cc - I don't have any other detials.. I have a Dethleff Rally Nomad caravan with mgw 1500kg will the Mazda be able to tow this please?

Without details of what the weight plate shows it's not going to be possible to give you a satisfactory answer. Depending on its age it may even need a towbar with European type approval. I think there's an internet forum which specialises in 'grey' imports from Japan. It would be well worth Googling to see if you can find it and it may have the answer to your question, in particular the legality issue.

Thanks for your responses. I will try to look into it further from your suggestions - it is a diesel and has been converted into campervan.

Hi, I don't have personal experience of owning one, but my brother in law had a 2.5L Diesel auto camper version for a few years.  Not sure whether he looked into towing with it, (he sold it & brought a caravan), but believe the max towing weight was 1600Kg, My impressions of it were it seemed a bit under powered, and I also believe all engines are susceptible to head gasket failure.
