The original external locker gas strut has given up the ghost.

Bailey/PRIMA  cannot help [age and supplier reason ]

Does anyone have a Senator Series 5 - any model that you could read off the stamped description, type etc. shown on their strut or the length of the extended strut please?

The refence should have an SCS or SGS prefix, numbers and the Nm three digit pressure.

Many hopeful thanks

I'll look for you when next I'm at the caravan, but I just cut a stick the right length to fit between the edge of the open lid and one of the moulded holes for a tow electric plug that is now in the motor mover enabling socket.  Much cheapness!

We had to replace our strut a couple of months ago, we went to our local Bailey dealer, although the original struts are no longer available they supplied us with an similar strut, we opted for one with pressure of 150, fitting it was easy and it is a lot stronger than the original that we had to replace.

Many thanks for the replies.

For Impy and - Deleted User User, thanks.

Currently my choice is a garden cane.

I have been in touch with SGS who say that they need the Identification details from the original strut. This is one reason for my post!

I live in Kent so could Impy please  give me the name of the dealer you used?

Alternatively the identity codes printed on the strut would certainly help.

Thanks to all

Ancientbrit, we went to Lee Davey caravans at Harrietsham, where we purchased our caravan from, we took the old strut off and took it with us. the shop staff measured it agaInst what they had in stock and then went and checked it with the service engineers.  We originally purchased one with a lower pressure but on fitting it we found that it would not hold the front box lid up so we took it back and exchanged for the high pressure one which was fine.

Many thanks Impy

We too bought from them several times - we have been on the move for over 50 years.

My problem is that I have lost the original strut and therefore cannot supply the length.

Could you please measure the extended length and let me know?

Another thought - when did you buy the strut? I am thinking that the people there may well remember .

Interesting that you had to uprate the pressure.

Thanks again

ancientbrit, other half measured the gas strut this morning, the extended length is 16 inches/410mm. We also got this information from the label on it - Luno part number SCS150NGAS   18BA  there was also this web address on the label www.luno.eu.com  Hope this helps smile
