Retrieving high level brake light wiring

I recently changed my high level brake light on my auto sleeper Kensington touring caravan . I bought an exact replacement from auto sleepers .The unit came with two attached wires with spade connectors attached. Unscrewing the old unit was straight forward , but when pulling the wiring to access the old connection the wires became detached and dissapeared behind the wall of the caravan.

I have bought a strobe light that connects to my phone , but cannot find the elusive wires to connect new unit.

Has anyone any suggestions as to a remedy for my situation.

I'm sure you mean a scope light (as in endoscope) and not strobe light. If thats the case and you cant see the wires it seems you have a problem.

Whats the construction of the wall between the outer and inner skins? is it full of insulation?

How far from the opening can you see using the scope?

All may not be lost, i've fished out many cables from inaccessible places using all sorts of implements. wire coat hangers straightened out with a hook formed on one end, plastic fishtapes, other stiff wires etc. it just takes time and patience.

If all else fails..........What is on the inside of the vehicle at that point?

If a cupboard it could be possible to open up the wall to find the wires.

Otherwise, if you can find the wires, or a connection  to them,  at floor level, could you run a new cable up inside the vehicle?  Some slim ducting would conceal it.

Try taking a rear light cluster out

It may be worth attaching a strong magnet to a piece of string if the aperture is big enough to take a small magnet. I have used this trick and been successful a few times....worth a try.  Good Luck.

I agree if they are copper no point in doing it........but similar incidents have sometimes worked for me. I have a couple of Magnets I keep that are strong I think they were out of Loud Speakers.

Thank you for your replies.I have tried the magnet and wire hook methods to no avail, spent about two hours up a step ladder fishing about .I have also  taken light clusters off to see if the wires I am looking for maybe attached ,but again no luck.

I also took off a bathroom mirror against the bulkhead to see whether it opened up to the back wall ,again no just a full fixed inside wall.

The only thing I can try now is to perhaps send a new double wire down using a plumb weight and connecting up to one of the rear lights.

Again thank you for suggestions,

David

You can purchase for around a tenner a set of  flexible electrician rods which screw together and come with different screw in ends and are used to pull wires through awkward places this may be useful in retrieving or replacing your light cable
