How to remove Dometic RM8550 Fridge Door

The plastic fitting that holds the door hinge pin in place at the top of our fridge door broke in transit last summer. Despite a lot of trying and searching, we have been unable to find out how to remove the door of the fridge so that we can try and fix the top.  Tried to upload photos but they were too big.  Basic problem is that the silver hinge pin doesn't sit in place anymore as the surrounding plastic is broken.  Thanks in advance for any advice!

It seems you are not the first with this problem. There was a detailed answer to this problem on Caravan Talk forum last year . Google will point you to it.

You need to remove the brown plastic cover and control knobs to gain access. The metal bracket with the hinge pin has some screws that are then easy to get to and remove, however, there is another one that is sitting slightly farther back and can be difficult to get to with a conventional screwdriver. As an engineer by trade I just happened to have a right-angled posidrive screwdriver and used that to fix mine.

They can be purchased on eBay or Amazon.

Just came back to this a year on.  Followed the extremely helpful post on caravan talk forum - thank you pickledonion2 - all sorted! Local dealer wanted to charge £315 for a new door…!
