I am thinking about selling my caravan this season privately. I have looked at the. Clasified on the club site, but don’t know where else to try. Has anyone any thoughts/experiences here. I guess if costs to advertised are high then it is just as cost effective to trade in as P EX.  Has anyone used one of these sites “we buy any caravan.com”

Morning

Autotrader is a good place to sell. I've sold motorbikes, cars and a motorhome on there. I think it costs around £35 for an advert. You can put photos on and a description. Their website explains it simply.

There's so many people out there looking to buy second hand vans at the moment you ought to get a good price but the 'we buy any ...' sites will always offer you less than the market value for a quick sale.  If you belong to any Facebook groups, there are people crying out for good second hand vans.

Unfortunately putting it on the club classified site only reaches those people who already have a van or M H. - not a good place to reach those people looking for a pre owned van.

If you don’t want it to hang around for ages and then you suddenly find you need to renew the insurance, have the annual service etc - then accept the loss, grit your teeth and trade it in P/x.

Or use a brokerage system, agree a sale price with a dealer and let them sell it for you. Either way there is a good market at present.

I would second what Jill has suggested. If there are Facebook Groups for your make, or even perhaps the model, of caravan it seems to be a good way of selling. Lots of people seem to sell motorhomes this way and seem to achieve surprisingly good prices. PX is obviously the easy way to do it but you won't get as much.

Jill & Dk, you're probably right. I also have a caravan for sale so I'll try that before Autotrader. Trouble is we've sold quite a lot of van stuff via facebook and you do get lots of people trying it on or ridiculous offers. Prices do look good though!!

I have sold two vans on e-bay. Only thing you really need to worry about is how they pay you. I also bought one on e-bay and paid the £8,000 in cash. I'd arranged to withdraw the money from the sellers local bank. We walked in together, I drew the cash out, handed it over and then we walked the 50 yards to the sellers bank and paid it in. Today you can do it on your phone or tablet, so my wife tells me.
