Has anyone ever fitted a security lock to the door of a Bailey Pegasus 534?  I have searched but cannot find any lock that would fit?  and it seems nearly impossible to remove any cupboards that are fitted around the door area?

Any advice, help,or photos from anyone who might have done this job would be much appreciated!

To be honest......why bother......the plastic window catches are the weakest point and any damage would be easily fixed....damage to a door and frame would be costly and a delay whilst new door and frame are delivered and fitted.Obviously in my opinion before anybody wants to argue!!

I agree.

The only reason I can see for getting such a lock is if it is the Fiamma type which doubles as a handhold/steady support but no doubt the OP has his reasons.

I fitted the Fiamma one to two caravans because the dog worked out how to open the door when I wasn't in the van and of course small children could go walk about too easily if parents were asleep - hence Archie's Lock for the older type caravan lock.  I have one of those if anyone wants it - it doesn't fit my newer caravan.  I should add that I only left the dog to go and fetch something from the car but it meant I couldn't go to the toilet block either.  I have a feeling that my new dog could also open the door if she tried so I put the Fiamma handle over if I go to fill the water or other short absences!

Thank you all for your replies, much appreciated.... seems as the only one available  for the 534 is the Fiamma,so Pippah,if you have a spare one,I will take it,let me know how much you want, and whether you would be able to post it to me?

Many Thankssmile

Sorry Muso I use the Fiamma - but I have "Archies Lock" available so if yours is a fairly new caravan it won't work.  It fitted my Abbey caravan 2010.  Its a plastic cover that stops small fingers or big paws opening the door from inside!  If you send a picture of your lock from the inside I could tell you.  The dealership did try to tell me the Fiamma wouldn't fit but I showed them the one on the Abbey and told them to get on with it!

Good Morning Pippah,

Sorry I didn't get back to you before - I will have a search and see if I can find it because I am fairly sure that it will work.  If I remember correctly Archie was the grandchild of members who went walkabout in the middle of the night!

So far it remains undiscovered but I will keep trying - it was a neat cover that fitted over the whole assembly - maybe a plastic box would do the trick - a Takeaway one or something.

A question though - are you trying to stop a child or a dog get out when they shouldn't i.e. when you are asleep?  Because that is what Archie's lock does - it wouldn't stop anyone getting in from the outside.  The fiamma does both of those things if I am outside - and it has been a godsend for me adjusting to my new hip to feel safe.

As Tinwheeler said intruders would find the windows easier to get in by.

Thanks for your reply Pippah.... perhaps if you do find it,you could send me a photo? and yes it would be for the inside only.
