Wi-fi - Yes that old chestnut...but...

Last year I kind of gave AirAngel the benefit of the doubt, site upgrades etc etc.  I was at Hunters Moon, the site is just excellent, the wardens are fab, site facilities excellent, love the site.   But!   the Wi-Fi was utter pants..poor connectivty, poor signal, slow connection. ..etc etc etc...I thought we'd gotten there just after the upgrade...but was told that it was still work in progress.

Roll on exactly one year ...and exactly the same pitch (creatures of Habit)  ....how is it now?     improved? faster? easier to connect?  excellent connectivty?        er.....well that would be nice but I can tell you that in actual terms the service now is worse than last year, thats WORSE!

I dont remember how much we paid last year but this year we at £25 for a years subscription....I pay £5 at home per month for unlimited etc etc...so at £25 to AirAngel for what will be no more than problably 28days in total connection, well it's not cheap.....but I know the price and paid it, no twisting of my arm.

However, the connection is not as good as last year, we have several devices, only one (this one) connects with any certainty, the others when they are lucky enough to get a signal ...they log on, by the time you've got to your browser you've been logged out again.

Connection speed?   'peak times might be slow' is what you're led to believe.  Not sure what time peak time is but at 3am with a connection speak of less than 0.8mb and with an upload of .18.gb ...well it's almost unusable.

Sorry to say but in my opinion AirAngel and the 'service' they provide is not fit for purpose, they appear not to have learned anything in 12+ months, ...the 'upgrades' the site was to have gotten seem to have gone backwards.

This isn't just me or my connection, this is from other members on the site, I've seen members parked up on a deckchair just feet from the masts so that they can get a signal so as to surf.

I've read people stating that it's a bit of a task to set up a reliable system over such a large expanse but frankly I don't buy it, I've been at showgrounds, festivals, events where wi-fi has been provided and where there are thousands of people connecting and where little difficulty in connecting can be found, so i don't buy the 'bandwidth/peak times/ terrain arguments.....

So for me, AirAngel and their utter pants system is a fail, they will not have a penny more from us unless things drastically improve...but given they were already supposed to have gotten things much better and yet we are experiencing a service less than last year...well we're not hopeful.

AirAngel - Fail!

Hunters Moon Site?   Still just as good as last year, still friendly staff, excellent facilities, clean happy site (save for the cussing you hear as you pass the various vans and motorhomes ' that f***in AirAngel   (asterisk's to protect the fainthearted)
