Essential maintenance

I have seen a few people complaining on other forums that the Club site, for bookings is down for Essential maintenance. We all appreciate that this has to happen from time to time but I can't see where this was advertised, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Well for me at least David it has been down all day. I have tried at various times to access the site and been directed to the Lego men on each occasion except now.

If you look at recent activity for the day it is very thin. It seems only a very few folk were able to log on. Perhaps device related.

Certainly I don't think it was planned. However, why they could not put a message on the main booking page, I don't know. Anyone hoping to use their weekend booking some holiday time, possibly looked elsewhere.

Edit it took two goes to post this.

Im sure anyone that was logged on when the system was dropped (and it was only part of the system) could remain logged in and therefore post on CT....

like many others, I had been logged out and could not post later in the day/evening....not an issue but 'surprising' for systems to be dropped in this way,

the CC continues to defy modern service convention and just remove its services when it sees fit

essential maintenance (unless fixing some business critical issue) should be carried out 'out of hours'....and for a (supposed) service company, that isn't for half of the weekend.....its overnight.

while away in Le Sud a couple of weeks ago, I was considering rearranging my ferry trip back....it was Friday evening when OH and I discussed it and I said that I would call CC to check options....happy to wait until morning....

i rang the phone and got a message telling me that the office was closed (weekend, DOH!) and that I should call back on Tuesday!! as Monday was a Bank Holiday.....

im truly staggered (even for an old fashioned company like Cc) that a supposed market leading leisure company hasn't moved itself even close to modern service levels and is happy to leave office and phones unmanned in peak season....

it really beggars belief in 2018....

yet not at all surprised.....

I presume Essential Maintenance means "we have problems" and Planned Maintenance means "we are improving the web site?" ( and we'll be off for x number of hours till x time.)

undecided

Brue, i think the point is that many users were actively using a part of the system that 'essential maintain ance' was excluding others from.

so, was that part of the system down or not?

or was the access denied due to a lucky 'logged in' state....or not....?

either way, there is an inconsistency here but we will never get to understand the foible of this wonderful website (incl CT) and its guardians' blazé attitude to its customers....

It does make you wonder wether they even knew there was a problem. Perhaps the Lego men are deployed automatically by the system. Everything seems to stop at weekends, as BB has mentioned above. Perhaps it was only when the security chap on his rounds noticed the multiple server alarms they realised there was an issue.😂

Either way some sort of explanation would be nice,

I liked the fact that on the Lego men's page, there were links to other parts of the site you could still visit. One was search and book.

Trouble was when you tried to access the site information, you were sent back to the Lego men.

The Lego Men are in charge when everyone goes off on Friday (lunchtime?) for the weekend.

Unfortunately, as shown in the photograph, they don't know what they are doing as evidenced by the plug in use being the wrong type for that socket.

Seriously though, the use of the word "hopefully" in the text is a big bit disconcerting!!

As a 24/7 holiday provider, dealing with customers familiar with 21st century communication systems, it's a work still in progress. frown
