CAMC have put up the cost of wifi on its sites by 10% on the annual charge to £27.50. Have I missed something as there doesn’t appear to be anything in the way of explanation on the website or magazine?. Are they hoping that no-one will notice?

Strange indeed in this day and age where we can both sit in armchairs in many high street coffee shops and both use free wifi for the price of a coffee.

We have long given up site wifi, the experiences even without considering cost were just to tedious, nowadays the mobile reigns.

So, not free but included. I imagine it is far cheaper to service a coffee shop with wifi than a CC site though.

Ina

I was also puzzled by JVB's calculation. I know he spends a lot of days in any one year on Club sites but I couldn't work it out as he has done. Fair enough for someone in his position the annual fee is very good value, even at the increased cost. Where it is not such good value is when you need it for short term use like the odd day or odd days within a week.

The daily rate of £3 is ridiculous David. I have paid at least that about 3 years ago on a commercial site when I needed to establish e-mail contact for a day with a friend who's husband was very ill.

Many of the comments have referred to the free wifi that is available in bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc but it also free on many of the European sites.

What has intrigued me in this discussion is that some of the comments seem to have come straight from the CAMC Propaganda manual?!

Where does one get access to this manual.😂

Usually hot spots though, unless you are close enough to reception for it to reach your van. Most of the CC's paid for WiFi is site wide. The only place we have had this abroad there was a significant charge.

It is free on no campsite Mikey. It is either provided included in the site charges or as an extra to be paid for. Some typical UK sites are 'free' in that it is included in pitch fees but many are not.

I don't use site hotspots generally. If I want access to the internet it will be in caravan or occasionally in car.

What propaganda manual and what has ‘free’ (which it isn’t) Wi-fi in Europe got to do with the price this club charges?

With 4g mobile offering a good data service and 5g now being rolled out I think the C&CC have seen the writing on the wall. By offering a free service it can be as poor as they like and there will be no pressure to spend club money to upgrade unlike the C&MC's current offering.
