Does the Club Mag care what we think ?

I sent an complaint email to the Mag on August 1st & have never received a reply.

So on 6th August I emailed the club who sent it on to the Mag - still no response.

The reason I was contacting the Mag was in the August edition 'epic adventures cartoon strip' in 'kids corner' had what I regard very unwise suggestion that it is safe for children to try & touch / handle wild squirrels. Squirrels are renowned for having a vicious bite & I think the Mag was very unwise in publishing such content particulary as it is aimed at children.

It seems that they have totally ignored my concerns - I've had no response back at all & having just received the September Mag they have published nothing in there either.

I am most disappointed in the lack of concern by the Mag staff.

DM, while I understand your concerns re lack of feedback I doubt any Child would be capable of catching/touching a wild Squirrel. Most would find it hard to see one due to the noise Children make.

Thats because writers like Beatrice Potter have anthropomorphised squirrels into cuddly squirrel nutkins.

Where as in reality they are just tree rats.

I like to see red ones though but would not attempt to handle one. Grey ones are just vermin.

Some of the ones in Clumber Park, in the chapel grounds, are so used to people and being fed, that you could easily reach out to try and handle one. Probably a fair chance of getting bitten though, and having watched them demolish acorns, this is probably best avoided. Plus of course the risk of infection.

There are squirrels in London parks which are so tame they can be stroked, and the OP is right, they are too vicious for small children to be encouraged to handle them.  However, hopefully responsible parents will realise this, and children are not likely to be reading the Caravan Club August magazine, I wouldn't think.

But, again I think the OP is right to be concerned about the lack of a reply.  I think even a courtesy 'Thank you for your email and we have noted your concerns' would at least acknowledge the fact that it had been 'seen'!

That's nothing Laughing Septembers mag just come through the letterbox and in 'Kids Corner', the dog from next doors caravan called 'Fluff' came wandering over off his lead in the darkness to star gaze from a tent, Sirius stuff indeed Surprised Obviously the poor dog was just kicked out of the door to do his own thing Laughing

Although the above is true, on  a more serious note the OP should at least have had an acknowledgment to his Email, although a reply would be expecting a bit much Undecided

I saw squirels once at a theme park so used to people that they were climbing onto a push chair to be fed crisps by the child in it so it might happen.

AD, I wouldn't class those as truly wild, more like semi-domesticated. If they are used to Humans & see them as providers of food I doubt they'd bite the hand that feeds themLaughing

Like those that encourage herring gulls with chips and then moan because they make off with their 'large cod in batter'.
