Booking difficulty for pre covid members

With the onslaught of the covid virus and the massive restrictions on foreign travel , it appears not only that the existing membership are filling up club sites , but I suspect also a large influx of new members are too . This is great for the campsites , as they have all faced a very difficult season this year . However , I am experiencing that finding pitches now is very difficult , and a great deal of the sites that could be booked a month in advance previously are full to the end of the season . This obviously makes me question whether membership is actually worth it now , as so far this summer after about  6 weekend breaks , I have realised that none of these were possible through the club .

This is obviously very disheartening , but there is a much bigger concern at play here , and that is next years bookings . No one has a crystal ball regarding the impact of covid , and we cannot predict what will happen next month , far less what will happen next year . We have the possibility of much of next years sites being booked up by people who would normally holiday abroad , and taking advantage of the booking system . If this occurs , and next year we have little or no travel restrictions , we will end up with a situation again where pre covid members cannot get pitches , and the sites will have a whole load of pre-booked vacant pitches .

Can I ask ; are other members here experiencing this as well ? And Also ; Does the club itself have concerns about the possibility of the above situation occurring , and how to address this ?

It seems some comercials are not having the same success wink

Not sure about that. Not always easy to book onto  commercial sites at the moment either. However, maybe some don’t have the imagination to look beyond what they always do, so takes some pressure off other options?

As posted earlier could not get on a club site next week for dates we wanted with some friends ,checked commercial site in same area (3.5miles ) that had really good reviews and was advised they had space for both of us and spaces for another if needed visit in November

with new toilet block  that is open and radar key accessed room pub 200yds and chippy the same

Did you have to pay a deposit? I have just checked the two commercial sites I have used earlier this year. Niether have vacancies for the next two weeks but thereafter they have either because deposits are required or the season is drawing to a close for many?

As has been advised by others  if you cannot get where you want you have to take a chance on what else is available, undecided

We are booked at Malvern on the CAMC site, but thinking of swapping to the CCC site next door as there is a good saving to be made.

OH started a booking, works out at just over Β£15 Per night, did not proceed to payment as we are not ready to decide yet, but was no problem  up to that point, what bit of the booking process is there a problem with?

Even if there was a saving my personal choice would be the more open CAMC site with it's views of the Malvern Hills! CAMC are doing a mid week discount there.

I don't find any difficulty booking with the C&CC either but it pays to look up their "offers" first and get the codes needed for extra reductions on some sites.

Our bookings are less with CAMC and more with C&CC at the end of this month onwards into October mainly because the sites are where we want to be.

PS. We passed sites on the Dorset coast yesterday that were by no means full, as others have said try a few others rather than just the club sites, plenty to choose from in some really nice spots.

Could you give us a clue as to the name of the site?
