In April 2021 we purchased the award-winning Carnon Downs Caravan Park (now known as Carnon Downs Club Campsite), set in beautifully landscaped grounds near Truro in Cornwall.

Just three miles south of the cathedral city of Truro with its excellent shopping centre, restaurants, museum and theatre, Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite offers 20 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with spacious pitches, backed by hedges and flowering shrubs. The nearby village of Carnon Downs is charming and peaceful, with a mini market, garden centre and fruit farm. Nearby Truro offers a Cathedral and weekly Farmers Market. The caravan park is also located close to Loe Beach, which offers water sports tuition and hire. After a hard day's fun, there are three inns within walking distance to satisfy any appetite.

The Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite is an excellent base to explore the beauty of Cornwall. Wonderful walks can be enjoyed on and from the caravan site, with the River Fal and the creek side hamlets of Penpol and Devoran just a short stroll away.

Perfect location even if the weathers not great!

Carnon Downs Club Campsite
I have stayed at this site several times now in low season and it’s perfect. It is easy to do several long walks from the site and also good for cyclists, I usually walk to Trelissick ((NT) but it’s also possible to catch a bus to Falmouth, boat to Trelissick, and then to walk back. . The dog walking area is amazing. And there is a bus which goes to Truro and Newquay from the village and to Falmouth from outside the gate. There are lots of hard standing pitches and the private bathroom facilities are great. The Motorhome service area allows for disposal of grey waste and toilet waste in the same area and there is even a place to wash your hands afterwards…why don’t other sites have this? There is a shop and restaurant/pub you can walk to nearby. One thing that could improve it would be a dog walking area for when you return to your van with a dog who has had a really lovely time!

Easter week end away

Carnon Downs Club Campsite
Despite the ever changing weather the site remained dry under foot. Recepetion checking in was easy and the bar area was open. We made a better choice of pitch this time whereby we could connect our services to the pitch water and drainage, the site has a very good number of services pitches but not all of the services are on the right side of the caravan. Will return again plenty to do in the area, the site is located in a good spot and is straight onto a main road, Truro is close by, 5 miles ? close anyway to cycle, looks like there is an old lane leading towards Truro.

Winter break

Carnon Downs Club Campsite
We stayed here for a weekend in February as it's one of very few sites in the South West open at this time of year. It seemed quite busy with the areas nearest the only open toilet block already full. This meant quite a walk in the wind and rain to use the facilities, frustratingly walking past a much closer, but closed, block. There is some road noise that didn't bother us as we were forced to stay inside by the weather but might be more troublesome if sitting outside in the summer. The site appears well maintained, clean and tidy. There is a handy little cafe serving croissants and pasties, staff were very friendly and helpful with information about the area. Nice walk from the site down to the estuary at Devoran and Point.

A good winter stay

Carnon Downs Club Campsite
We spent 5 nights here in Jan 24. The only downside was the hum of traffic but it didn't put us off. Attractive and peaceful walks from the site to the creeks and Falmouth harbour and an excellent bus service to Falmouth and Truro which are worth visiting for the day. We didn't take bikes but there are some interesting cycling routes to explore from the site. Carnon Downs has a good Spar/post office. Although the site is now owned by the CAMC, it retains all the trappings from when it was a privately owned affiliated site and is run by the same local staff. Half the site was closed when we visited with only one shower block open but it was in excellent condition and there is a pleasant cafe/bar at the reception where we treated ourselves to a coffee and croissant.

Fabulous Site

Carnon Downs Club Campsite

Lovely site with very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely cafe/bar area with live singing two nights a week. Bus stop right outside site gate giving great access to Falmouth and Turo and beyond. Will definitely be going back.
