Ideal CL for this area of Somerset

Temple House Farm
Cracking site, very welcoming owners, level spacious pitches with hookup. Convenient water and toilet access/disposal. Heard a cow moo but did not see a fly. Will return and suggest if you visit this area head here and make certain you combine it with a visit to the Frome independent monthly market

Ideal for a visit to East Somerset Railway

Temple House Farm

Booked 2 nights here as we had a day booked at ESR. On arrival we called the owner and within a minute he arrived on his bike to welcome us, told us we could could pitch up anywhere we liked on the field, where the water and bins are etc. First thing we noticed was the amount of flies! They were everywhere, so much that we didn’t feel comfortable sitting outside our motorhome. Not only were they flying around, they left such a mess on our van. However, the site is fairly well kept, grass was cut ok, no loose cuttings. Bins and toilet waste area all kept tidy. We walked to east Somerset railway which took about 30 mins, but down a main road that was busy with huge lorries, had a great day out there, well worth a visit. Shepton mallet is about an hours walk, but we didn’t try it as the walk to esr was too stressful on the main roads! The site is peaceful, nothing woke us up in the night, even though they had cows and chickens nearby. If it wasn’t for the flies we would rate this site much higher, I guess that’s what you get for being on a dairy farm.

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for your review and we are glad you found the CL Site peaceful. The CL Owner has been in touch as he wanted to advise the CL Site is not affected by flies frequently and they do not have them in any greater number than you would expect at any farm site. Our CL Inspector has also visited the site a few times and reports he has not experienced flies on his visits so we are sorry that your stay was affected by this. With regards to walking to the East Somerset Railway, please note there are other walking routes which are not via the main road and the CL owner is more than happy to advise of the best way to access the railway.

Just what a CL for this price should be

Temple House Farm
This is a working dairy farm so don't come here if you don't recognise cows need to be milked and that there may be a 'countryside smell. Do come here if you're looking for traditional no frills caravanning. EHU, tap, grey waste point, elsan point. Adult only, dog friendly, eggs available, walking from site to at least 2 pubs (covid regs permitting). Loads of space, sunny open site, peace and quiet apart from the occasional tractor. Roger the owner is lovely. Just the place for us to relax and only 45 mins from home so we'll be back!

Beautiful Peaceful Site in glorious Mendip countryside

Temple House Farm
Our second visit to this beautiful CL where we received a warm welcome from Roger the owner of the farm. Pitches are flat and well spaced out, with hook-ups and great tv reception. Lots of beautiful local villages to visit (Would recommend Mells and Nunney, which also has a fantastic tea room with home-made cakes). The Mendip Way passes through the corner of the farm if you enjoy walking. Wells, Bath, Frome and Bristol are all close by if you enjoy larger places to visit. Shepton Mallet is less than 10 minutes for shopping (Try the Deli in street below the Market Cross). The nearby Poachers Pocket provides excellent meals and the landlord keeps his beer in excellent condition. A wonderful site for just lazing around or as a base for loads of interesting visits, l would highly recommend. Drayton Lad
