Oakham Certificated Locations

The medieval town of Oakham in the East Midlands boasts a rich history that provides a great experience for visitors.

With historic buildings aplenty, it is hard to choose which to visit first. Oakham Castle is a must and is a great example of Norman architecture. Free to enter and open six days a week, the site has undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment in recent years.

Railway fans will want to check out the Oakham Signal Box. This unique building was used by Airfix as a template for all model railway signal boxes and has since been included on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest.

Oakham is also home to the Rutland County Museum, which provides a fascinating insight into the past of the region.
