An Excellent CL site

Buckthorn Farm
We have stayed a number of times at Buckthorn Farm, Lynn is extremely accomadating helpful and very a friendly person. The site is very well maintained, level, very good fersilities and peaceful. It has a very good separate fenced area for dogs to exercise. Easy assess to the site from the lane. It is Very close to Pickering, Malton, Whitby, Scarborough and the North Yorkshire Moors. Overall an excellent CL site to stay for short or long breaks. We Fully recommend Buckthorn Farm CL site. Thank You Lynn for this year, see you in 2018.

Buckthorn Farm
Just got back from a five day stay on Buckthorn farm, So much enjoyed it yet again, plenty of room and lots of peace and quiet . Very local to visit the coast if you need a day out . Everything you need can be found in the village just down the road. Top marks to the owner for a lovely stay.

First visit to this area.

Buckthorn Farm
Easy site to find with very good access. Large level field all grass with an excellent enclosed area for dog exercise although it was in need of cutting which the owner informed us was due to happen shortly. Very good facilities for a CL and a lovely reception area with lots of tourist information. Some road noise on the lane but not enough to disturb us unduly. Would use this site again.

Brilliant Site

Buckthorn Farm
When approaching the site from the south the turning in to Haygate lane is quite sharp. If you have a large outfit carry on for a mile into Pickering, at the end of the road is a big roundabout, do a u turn and approach from the other direction its much easier. The site is a fair way down the lane which is fairly narrow and pot holed but is easy to navigate and there are passing places. When you get to the site the entrance to the farm and the field is spacious and I had no issues with a twin axle getting on to the site. The site is a level field and the vans are sited at one end (which is just next to the lane), the lane is not busy but there is some traffic noise. The site itself is well maintained, it was level so no need for blocks. Grey water is in to the hedge, but the rest of the facilities are modern. The WC empty point is a bit of an art, the owner gives instructions when you arrive and there is a sign next to it. Following the instructions there is no issue. Some campers seem unable to listen/read which means that it can get blocked up. Tell the owner and they sort it immediately, a couple of campers at easter didnt, blocked it and drove off without saying anything, so when it was our turn, lets just say yuk! But follow the instructions and its fine. The site is well drained and even after a heavy rainfall the field was not muddy. There is a dedicated fenced in dog walk area to let the dogs have a run. Its a 30min walk into the town (back up the lane) over the style by the first bungalow then right at the end of the field. In Pickering there are a few dog friendly places to eat/drink, though nightingales food/service was appalling. There is a fish and chip shop restaurant on the main street that accepts dogs. The NYMR station is about a 30min walk from the site, so no need to drive if you want to travel on the steam train. Overall a brilliant site and would highly recommend it.
