Like a village on its own

I have just returned from a weeks stay at Wooda and what can I say apart from wow. The whole site is like a village of its own with its excellent well stocked shop, beauty shop, bar and restaurant and take-away. Not forgetting an actual caravan supply shop, nature trail, indoor and outdoor childrens play area, art studio, fishing lae, dog walking area, tennis/badminton courts need I go on? amazing. The little roads on to the pitches are particularly tight especially as people parked cars infront of their pitches instead of down the side of the caravans. The bude beach is within walking distance, however its an uphill walk all the way back with hardly any pavements so for safety I recommend that you drive their it has an adequate car park. The surrounding villages are beautiful and quaint lots of thatched roofed houses. We had a day trip to Newquay and went to the zoo (you can return within 7 days for free) a trip to port Isaac where doc martin is filmed, what a beautiful picturesque village that is definitely worth a trip there!! There is a Morrisons about 5 mins drive from site with a swimming pool and bowling alley next door. If you go on the nature trail don't forget to look out for the little pixies hidden in the trees (also available to buy from the site shop). The only downside was a group of tents 2 rows ahead of us which played music all day and night. Site rules stipulate that music must be off by 10.30 this continued well after midnight most nights. Even after complaints nothing seemed to be done. Facilities were beautiful and music played in to the shower block which is a nice touch. Showers were red hot though and no way of adjusting them (they are the pushbutton type) site maintained daily and when we had a small flooding incident (well rain into he awning created a small mud bath) the maintenance guys came straight round with some buckets of gravel and dried it up. Apart from the noisy neighbours I honestly can not fault the site and would definitely be back!

Service pitch the smallest and tight for big units

Arrived here on our way home for 4 nights.  The approach road is narrow in places, so caution needed (DO NOT GO DOWN STONE HILL!, you will get stuck). On arrival the staff are friendly and guided us to our serviced pitch P103.  Our van is 24ft 8in and I immediately noticed that pitches are very close to one another with only a narrow road in front.  And our pitch seemed to be the smallest. Had to use the opposite vacant pitch to get the van on, it really is tight!  Dont know how we would of got on if it was occupied...... Water flow pressure is dismal.....  The view is good (apparently best plot for sea view) although, if there was another caravan in the opposite pitch we wouldn't be able to see it. Had to park the car on the small grassed area at the side (just about squeezed in) because you can't park in front of the van as it blocks the road..... The toilet facilities are good and clean, but our pitch gets a lot of noise from the gents hand dryer, which sounds like a light aircraft taking off :(. I have looked round this site and the pitches at the rear seem to be more spacious and not as expensive.  I would say if your going to stay here opt for the electric pitches near the back or on the bottom rows..... Shame, because otherwise this is a lovely place.

Lovely in Bude

Stayed here in June for 10 nights.  Clean attractive site with good facilities.  Nice shop serving newspapers etc and a take away near the entrance serving a nice selection of meals if you're feeling idle.  Excellent restaurant and camping shop at the far end of the site complex.  10 minutes easy walk. A small selection of super pitches are available though we didn't notice this at the time of booking.  All in all a well maintained and spacious site.

Superb site and location

We stayed here at the end of April/start of May and yes it was windy but in no way did it deter from our enjoyment of this site and the area. Every effort is made by the owners and staff to make your stay pleasurable. The site was immaculate with excellent spotless facilities. There are lots of little extras including table tennis which we enjoyed, a well stocked and competitively priced shop, nature trail with Pixie hunt for the kids, that although we are of an older generation we still had a go at. Yes there is a bar, grill and takeaway on site which were not open every day, but it wasn't the high season so we weren't expecting it to be. The views and surrounding area are stunning and Bude itself is very civilised and not spoilt by the usual seaside amusement trappings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and relish the idea of returning in the future. An excellent addition to the Club portfolio! Well done Wooda

not what i had hoped for

after staying at another site we arrived here for the second part of our trip, on first impressions very nice good reception great shop, we checked in and went to our pitch, we had a great view from it however completely unsheltered from the winds we were unable to safely erect our awning for our entire stay, not the sites fault but something to consider. the pitch was ok, had a tap with very poor pressure but we got by as we completely filled our aquaroll and then let the hose take care of topping it up,The toilet blocks didnt seem very warm at all and although clean not up to usual caravan club standards.we soon found that the bar on site and take away on  site were not going to be open for most of our stay, we did eventually try both the bar for food and the takeaway, sadly neither were very good at all take away especially poor. the bar itself looked lovely but forget about taking your dog or your child in there, we sat outside under a canopy to eat but were told there was a room we could go in that had a table and heat as it was cold outside, frankly it was warmer outside. the site was ok with a beautiful view of the sea in the distance if your on the right pitches.but not really enough to make me want to head back there anytime soon.
