Campervan Sites in Northern Spain

We did that trip last Sept to Nov. There are lots of sites all the way along the north coast and lots of camperstops that have facilities.

If you haven't already got the Acsi card/book of discounted sites I would recommend it. Also download the Apps Searchforsites and Park4night they are IMO the best. Lots of info on sites, Aires and wild camping spots.

The Pico's are a must, the whole coast is breathtaking. 

We followed it down and into Portugal, you will have a great time. Enjoy.

Good advice from Tammy, who is far more experienced in travelling that part of the world than I am,  but another source of campsites in northern Spain is UKCampsite.co.uk. Their campsite search facility lists about a hundred, often with reviews, and marks them on a map. There is certainly no shortage.

Larrouleta is a great place for visiting San Sebastian via public transport.

Some years ago we travelled into the Picos de Europa, found some fabulous sites with non prebooked. Too long ago to suggest specific sites but this may help give a flavour of Northern Spain. I will say it was tremendous, it was a particularly hot summer and many southern Spanish motorhomers had migrated to cooler climes, still beautifully warm for us. They were a particularly helpful bunch and the locals were very friendly. The cuisine was interesting, not your usual Spanish Costa type and the main local beverages were cider and apple brandy.  Absolutely loved it and some fabulous memories formed.

I  did a similar trip in 2009 but travelling the other way round from Vigo north then along the north coast of Spain into France. These are the sites I used.

Camping As Cancelas at Santiago de Compostela

Ruta Finesterra on the Costa da Morte, overlooking a pretty bay between Finisterre and Corcubion with a view of the Finisterre lighthouse from some pitches.

Camping San Rafael, just west of Foz. a small coastal site mainly used by the Spanish. Facilities were basic but clean.

Camping Los Cantiles, a cliff top site amongst pine trees over looking the fishing port of Luarca.

Camping Carlos V, close to the sea front at Laredo.

We did a trip in Northern Spain last April/May, absolutely fabulous. We're also campervanners. A couple of sites I'd recommend in addition to ones already suggested - Camping La Paz is a great location on the coast, good walking in either direction as it's on part of the Camino, plus a nice beach, Most pitches have great views and it's especially good for smaller vans like ours. Also La Viorna in the Picos and Ribadesella are good places for a few days. Another one we liked was at Zumaia - easy to catch a train from there into San Sebastian for a day.

On an earlier trip we also really liked the site someone mentioned earlier, Los Cantiles at Luarca, but it was permanently closed when we looked into it last year so check first.
