Set in a quiet, simple and spacious location, Stover Club Campsite lies next to a beautiful country park on the edge of Dartmoor. If you crave a tranquil break and a wealth of lovely scenic walks, this is the ideal campsite for a holiday in Devon. The Stover Country Park itself offers a variety of walks - you can choose secure expeditions guided by the Park staff or if you fancy something more challenging the wilder terrains of Dartmoor nearby are waiting to be discovered.

Visitors to Stover Club Campsite can enjoy the other aspects of Dartmoor by following the nature trail through a lovely valley to see Becky Falls. You can also opt for a leisurely drive to Canonteign for another country park well worth visiting as well as a host of delightful waterfalls. There is also a memorable Heritage Trail near the campsite called the Templer Way; it runs from Haytor right through to the sea at Shaldon.

Less than a mile away is Trago Mills Family shopping and Leisure Park which includes super karts, trawler boats, steam and model railways plus an interactive animal enclosure so there is something for everyone nearby.

A digital TV signal booster is in operation at this site (no lead required).

Please note: this site does not have a toilet block.

Walking notes:

Dartmoor National Park is the largest and wildest area of open country in Southern England, with over 368 square miles of moorland, forest and woodland. Stover Country Park is adjacent to the site, via a public footpath to the rear of the site and along a disused railway track. The park has a lake, walking routes, nature centre, aerial walkway and is great for dogs.

Check out the huge range of free pre-mapped walks and hikes near our campsites at Outdooractive's website. You can also download the free Outdooractive app while member's can save €10 on an Outdooractive Pro or Pro+ annual subscription through our Member Offers.

Supermarket notes:

The nearest supermarket is the Co-Op next to Trago Mills, 2.3 miles away and with motorhome access. Tesco is just outside Newton Abbot – proceed towards the town and then follow the signs for Newton Abbot Racecourse. Sainsbury's is just off the Penn Inn Roundabout on the A380. Asda is in the town centre.

One Of Our Favourites!

This is our 'go to' site when we want a few days away but don't want to travel very far. Always a friendly welcome from the site managers, Pete and Kath and on our last visit, Martin and Janet, the relief managers. Although there are no facilities here, the location... Show more

Great stopover

Great stopover to break up a journey. Friendly staff, clean site, country park for dog walking a couple of minutes walk away and small dog walking area on site. No shower block facilities, so this may be a consideration for some. Yes, it is next to a road, but we... Show more

Great Site and a warm welcome as usual.

This is our regular site. Some slight road noise, if its a problem plenty of pitches furthest from the road. The site is clean and tidy and regularly maintained by the male warden who always seems to be around doing site maintenance. Bus stop within a few yards of... Show more

Great site, good location, unfriendly staff

Probably the most unfriendly reception we have ever had at a club site in 38 years of membership. The lady warden's demeanour and body language made us feel unwelcome. The only information we were given was that we couldn't drive round to find a pitch as it would... Show more

Our Go To Site

This non-facility site is in a great location alongside Stover Country Park. Access is really easy and the site is kept in pristine condition by the managers, Pete and Kath. As there are no facilities or play area, it doesn't tend to attract families and despite being adjacent to a... Show more

Pleasant site in good location

Our first stay here at this non facility site. Made a mistake when booking and inadvertently booked a non awning pitch, there were only 4 and were close to the busy road so was a bit worried but the road noise was actually not too bad as muffled by trees.... Show more

Great site convenient to many attractions

We stayed mid July 2023 and had a good time, yes there is road noise mainly during the day but it quietened down overnight. We enjoyed daily walks around Stover Country Park and the site is convenient to Dartmoor which is not far away. Access to the site is easy... Show more

Lovely, well kept site and friendly wardens. BUT! The noise from the road is constant, incessant, morning till night. Our pitch was one of the nearest to the road but even at the other end of the site, it was bad. In all other respects this... Show more

Another Great Visit

This site is, in our opinion, a little cracker. It is beautifully maintained and very easily accessible even for the largest of outfits. Large, level hard standing pitches with many fronting/backing onto vast areas of grass so it all feels quite spacious. There is a small dog walk but with... Show more
