Lower Wensleydale Club Campsite is set within the sheltered hollow of a disused quarry that is now overrun with a vast array of wild flowers, mosses and mature trees. This campsite based in North Yorkshire is managed by the Club on behalf of the owners and offers varied pitching areas, each one guaranteed to bring you that one step closer to the beauty of our country's natural splendours. Ducks and rabbits roam the site freely and a special area is set aside on site for tents - perfect for those looking to camp in Yorkshire. The site is also in the perfect spot to watch the local steam trains pass by.

Leyburn is situated conveniently close to Lower Wensleydale Club Campsite - it is a thriving market town with a large variety of stalls to browse each Friday. It also boasts regular antique sales and is home to The Little Chocolate Shop where you can tour the factory. Travel a little further afield and you will reach Richmond, the heart of North Yorkshire and a bustling market town. Situated within the Yorkshire Dales National Park is the White Scar Cave, where you can marvel at the natural beauty of the caves whilst enjoying the longest cave tour in Britain. This is also wonderful walking and dog walking country that offers a wealth of superb scenic views and rewarding explorations - so be sure you don't forget to pack your walking boots!

Directions

Map showing campsite location

Please only use these recommended directions for the final approach and not sat nav, due to unsuitable roads for towing. From East on A684: turn right about 0.75 mile past railway bridge with traffic lights and just before the Pheasant Inn at Harmby. Cross the railway bridge, immediately turn left and follow signs to the site entrance. From West on A684: turn left just past the Pheasant Inn at Harmby; then as above. The route from M6 junction 37 via Sedbergh is not advised, being narrow in places. The immediate approach road to the site is narrow, with steep blind bends (look for traffic mirrors on bends).

Needs an upgrade!

Can't fault the site wardens for friendliness! The site facilities list shows 'wifi'. The only club wifi available is a hotspot around reception. You'd expect it sitewide if it's mentioned - so it should say 'wifi hotspot'. The facilities need an upgrade. The showers have a raised kerb which used to... Show more

Great location

My third visit to the site. Easy access from main road. Central location for visiting many interesting places. Was warmly welcomed by new site staff. Good size level pitch. Agree that ladies shower block gets very wet floors at busy times.
