Hunter's Moon Club Campsite lies just on the edge of the lovely Wareham Forest. This pleasant campsite, with play area and dog walk, provides an excellent base for touring the lovely area of Dorset. Many of the area's most attractive locations are safeguarded by the National Trust, including substantial stretches of unforgettable scenic coastline. It is rich in combes, cliffs, bays and islands - particularly rewarding for the visitor interested in bird life and walking. The nearby Golden Cap, of which the National Trust owns, 2,000 acres of hills, farmlands and beaches, has the highest cliff in England and delights with its covering of brilliant yellow gorse.
This is Thomas Hardy country and visitors to Hunter's Moon Club Campsite will recognise many of the scenes described in his novels. His birthplace, a charming thatched cottage with its garden magnificently ablaze with colour is situated at Higher Bockhampton, within easy reach from the campsite. Also of great interest in the area and only a short 10 mile journey away is the house at Cloud's Hill, popular because it once belonged to the famous Lawrence of Arabia. At certain times during the month, the delightful market town of Wareham holds a small but well-stocked farmers market. The area offers good transport links with a railway station at Wareham, which also offers car parking and onward bus travel to the coastal towns of Poole, Bournemouth, Swanage and Weymouth. Not to be missed are the National Trust’s Brownsea Island and Corfe Castle along with the wonderful New Forest.

A big thank you to the staff, most helpful and friendly. The route into the site is excellent, wide roads, no windy lanes, great for large campers and caravans. We booked a fully serviced pitch, so I left my water carrier and waste carrier at home......big mistake, some of... Show more

Everything you'd expect of a club site. All the usual facilities in good condition and well cared for. Shame about the noise from the permanent caravan site over the hedge at the North end one evening but rest of time was fine, and not much the club can... Show more

Ok so the title is perhaps pushing it a little bit I mean we didn’t actually book a stay somewhere that we didn’t think we’d enjoy - it’s why we caravan after all…..But I must admit we had read a few of the previous reviews and were starting this first... Show more

This is the first time we have ever stayed at Hunter's Moon and we had an enjoyable stay and will be back. We stayed on a serviced pitch near the lower facility block which was convenient. The reason we have given this site a 4 star review is we thought... Show more

Had a lovely 3 night stay. Immaculate facilities and our fully serviced pitch was large, level and we were lucky to be able to choose our pitch as site was quiet. Very friendly welcome. Good location for Wareham and Swanage but definitely needed our extra car as parking with MH... Show more

As ever, a lovely stay at this site which has been a favourite for over 40-years. If there is a downside then it is the dogs barking from the adjacent site but apart from that, it is perfect. Fantastic dog walking area, spotless facilities, welcoming wardens. Centrally located for everything that this part... Show more

Campsite is a lovely location for visiting Dorset eg. Corfe. Staff were friendly and facilities very clean. Unfortunately not very peaceful as there is a Travellers camp on the border of the campsite and their noise and noisy dogs was hurrendous. Disturbed by dogs barking on the otherside of camp at 3am...
